HI LESLIE: Interestingly enough I have been stumped over the year as to how or if your JOHN HUMMEL fits in with my HUMMEL line. Our HUMMELS came over in 1805. They spent a few years in Philadelphia and then came to south jersey. The lived in Bridgeton, Shiloh and Salem. The married into family names such as McPHERSON, SHIMP, DUNHAM, CLARK, TAYLOR, GILLESPIE, SHEPPARD, MATLOCK, WESTCOTT, HIRES, AYARS and ACTION. Hi, I am looking for information of any kind on the mother of my great-grandfather Davis. Her name was Mary Taylor, and I know that she was married to Joshua C. Davis on 8 Jan 1839 in Fairfield TWP, Cumberland Co., New Jersey. She and Joshua had 2 chldren, Francis Norman b. 1839, and Phebe b. about 1841. Joshua married his second wife, Abigail Carll, in Sep 1845. I have found no evidence that he and Mary Taylor were divorced, so I presume that she died prior to the latter date. I have been unable to find any other information regarding Mary Taylor. Does anyone have a Taylor of Cumberland Co., or surrounding area, that might have a Mary that fits my gg grandmother? I have a second query. Joshua C. Davis's mother was Priscilla Coombs, b. abt. 1791-1800, in Maurice River TWP, Cumberland Co., NJ. She prob died Apr 1867, in Fairfield TWP of Cumberland Co.. She married Joel Davis in Maurice TWP, with whom she had 13 children. She was discribed in the 1840-1860 US censuses as being "insane." I have found Coombs in Cumberland Co., but have not found a Priscilla among them. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Charles
