Hi Jodi, Thanks for your response. I only show Isaac Sutton as a probable father to Sarah Sutton m. Samuel SCUDDER, II. The name of Oswin/Ozwell shows in this family so it would seem probable that they are all connected but I can't find any documentation. I tried to contact Mary Sutton who is a great resource but have not had a response yet. Regards, Joan In a message dated 9/21/2005 5:27:48 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Hi.. You asked if I knew any more about the Sutton line. I am not sure if this is correct.. Parnell then remarried a SEEDS at some point..as she left an unrecorded will in 1743 also naming 6 of her children. The son you want to follow is Ozwin. I have always thought that Isaac Sutton, (married to Christina)who I have seen as having a birthdate as 1741 is the same Isaac as the son of Ozwin. If this is true...Thomas Coates Sutton who lived in Salem co. would have been his uncle and his brother Ozwin who lived in Bucks co. PA. would have been the reason he was in Cumberland co. NJ Thomas Coates had a son , John , and grandsons who also lived in Downes twnsp, Cumberland co. If any of this sounds familiar to you..let me know..please? I have seen family sheet that says Isaac's father is Thomas Sutton from Maryland. I am not so sure. Jodi

Hello- I am researching the family of Henry Winrow, born May 1892 probably in Cumberland County, NJ. His father was Henry born 1856 also probably in Cumberland County. I have this information from U.S. Census returns. The father of the elder Henry was, I am deducing only from census returns, Abram/Abraham Winrow, born 1821-1824 in New Jersey. The younger Henry's wife was Florence, maiden name unknown. Their children were Sara Elizabeth, b. 1914, Nelena, b. 1917, Ana Mary, b. 1919 and Florence, b. 1924. Is anyone else researching this family? I would be happy to share what information I have. Thanks in advance for any help. Yes, I joined; in fact I sprung (sprang?) for the $100 life membership, to honor their work. I was impressed with former Librarian Fola Bevan and the late Jack Kelley (who copied and indexed gads of Millville data from Vineland h.s. and other places). The few times I've managed to get over to Millville in the past year or two, I've found Bob Francoise and Mimi ____ volunteering. They appear to have capably filled gaps left by Fola's relocation and Jack's death, but I'm sure there are others whom I haven't yet met, or who volunteer behind the scenes. Yes, the 6 hours a week are limiting, but they have few vol's, who are helping staff the County h.s. at Greenwich also. If you phone the City's main number, 856-825-7000, they relay a message to the vol's, who may then let you know if someone is going to be there outside of those 6 hours. I live in Delaware also (Kent County) so if you can either get a Wednesday afternoon off or clear half a Sunday, we could drive over together for their 1 to 4 hours. One more Millville tip: don't miss the public library's local history room, just inside the door, and their microfilm collections of vital stat's and old newspapers. This gives us junior-historians something to do when MHS is not open.

If there was absolutely no debate over what the deceased left behind, such as when a man left a widow in a paid-off house and no living children, there were cases of having no Letter of Admin. When someone had already given everything to children, expecting only to use a house, etc., until his or her death, would be another explanation. But it is my experience that with the majority (especially starting in the 1900s) either a spouse or oldest child was expected to file such a letter. This put others (related or not) on notice for a set period of time, to either produce proof that they were owed something, or hold their peace, at which time the filer was named administrator. If someone died with debts, the largest debtor often stepped forward to file such a Letter himself, and courts could recognize that party as Administrator as long as no family member challenged. This seems like the fox watching the chicken coop, but I've seen it happen. Courthouse workers sometimes either don't know, or don't care to point it out (lest you stay longer!) but there is a separate book listing Letters of Admin. that should always be checked when you cannot find someone's Will. Even after reviewing the Will and L. of A. lists, also ask how to find Inventories (of the estate) and possibly a Division of Real Estate. The Inventory SHOULD be attached to a formal Will on a later date, but if you see no evidence of someone listing every last spoon and chair in the deceased's house (who got it, who was paid what debt, etc.), then ask if there are separate Inventories somewhere. May your next visit bring you some "a-ha's." ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Jack Allen" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [NJCUMBER] Millvile and Cumberland death records (self-help tips) Date: Sat, 17 Sep 2005 10:24:51 -0400 Are you saying that if someone did not leave a will, then a letter of administration will be on file? Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg//wQB.2ACE/1137.1.1.2 Message Board Post: I've been watching the posts under this title because, although I have yet to unearth a Stiles or Chard, there were two Cossaboons who married Langley men. I also continue to sift through the many Tozer/ Tozour/ Touzer/ Towser. These include my GG-GM Rebecca 1825-1911 (dau of Wm. Tozer 1804-88 and Hannah Dickinson Tozer, 1805-after 1888). This Rebecca md. Silas Franklin Langley 1825-89. A later Rebecca, who spelled her name Tozour, was b. in 1873 to John Tozour and Amanda Whilden, and she md. George C. Langley (b. 1863). Geo. was son of the 1809-79 William Langley of Ewings Neck/ Delmont and Sarah Christian (not Wm.'s first wf Jemima or "Jermina" Robinson, as Roy Hand apparently wrote). Rebecca, her husband and her parents are buried on 2 sides of a good-size stone at Heislerville (I think!) if someone wants to check. For Cossaboon, I'll need to be rough with dates. The late Joseph Langley and wf Esther Cossaboon would be about my parents' ages, so were probably b. 1920-25 range. Joseph was son of Eugene of Malaga, and grandson of John Tozer Langley 1853-1945 of Dennis Twp. John T. was the oldest son of my Silas F., and probably named after Rebecca's bro John. S.F.'s younger son was Richard T. (probably Tozer) Langley, aka "Dick." (1862-1943) of Willow Grove and Vineland. Dick was a master carpenter, and with his first wf Mary Elzabeth "Lizzie" Thompson (1869-1905) he had one son, Richard Garrison "Gary" Langley, b. 1891 (?) who later md. Adna Cossaboon. Gary apparently sold cars, and had a deformed or missing arm (stories vary!). SSDI has Richard LANGLEY - Oct 1901 - Jun 1983 and has Adna Langley as 1903-83. Since both died in the tiny town of Fortescue South of Millville about a month apart, I'm sure this is them, even though somewhere else I found 1891 for RGL's birth year. I have not found that they had any children, but Joseph certainly did (if you're out there, pls straighten us out about the Cossaboons). It appears that Cossaboon was a later spelling of Cossaboom. Some of each are buried at Mt. Pleasant. In the 1950s and 60s near Wood School in Mvl lived a Joseph Cossaboon probably b. 1920 or a bit before.
