Happy New Year to Ya'll I'm searching for info on Michael Morris (b. 1838) and his wife, Catherine (b. 1843). The 1870 Census they were in Millville and the 1880 Census in Landis Twp. I know of 7 children: Hartwill A. Morris (b. Sep 1864), Clarence Morris (b. 1868), June L. Morris (b. Nov 1870), Thomas H. Morris (b. 1872), Frank Morris (b. Nov 1876), Haddie Morris (b. 1880), and Mertie Morris (b. 1880). Haddie married Edward M. Neff (b. 1866 in Philadelphia). They are both buried at North Cedar Hill Cemetery in Philly. Edward M. Neff is a brother to my ggrandfather (Albert Frank Neff). Barbara in Wilmington, NC "I've never met a tombstone I couldn't relate to....."
Hi. I was going through my late grandmother's jewelry and found a piece with initials on it. I think they are SBG in that order.. so the last name might be B or G. Either way, they don't match up to anyone on any line so far. http://static.flickr.com/43/78321818_75b8810b78_o.jpg I don't know what the type of jewelry is so I can proceed further with my research. What is it called? Was it used as a seal on documents? What is it? Is it for men (then it would have belonged to my grandfather) or women? I was hoping that someone on this list might have seen something similar in his genealogy travels as the piece would have been owned by someone living in the Cumberland county area. My grandparents were born in the 1910's. thank you for your help! -andrea

I found this listing for the cemetery: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/nj/cumberland/cemeteries/dividing.txt Pages listed are: Page David d. 6-23-1803 aged 63y Page David d. 12-2-1812 aged 48y 1m Page David b. 1793 d. 5-20-1820 aged 26y 6m 16d Page Sarah d. 12-10-1852 aged 83y Consort of David Page Page Willie N b. 3-6-1867 d. 7-5-1867 S/o Boliver & Annie Page This doesn't mean he's not there. It just means that the person who did the transcription did not see a headstone for him. It may be missing. Or he could just not be there. -andrea On 12/11/05, Alice Benson <[email protected]> wrote: > Would anyone know if information from this book on Dividing Creek > Baptist cemetery is available on-line anywhere? In "Cumberland County Genealogical Data" H. Stanley Craig, on p. 123, the will of Joseph Page is abstracted. It says: Page, Joseph, Fairfield w. Feb. 1, 1766; proved June 12, 1767. Chd. Jonathan, David, Martha, and Hannah; grand sons David, Ambrose, and John Page; dau-in-law Mary Page (son's widow) In the "Vineland Historical Magazine" vol. 28, p. 155-158 is an article entitled "Old Records of the Baptist Church at Dividing Creek, Cumberland County, New Jersey, with Historical Notes." Joseph Page is listed in 1761 as contributing to the fund to buy the parsonage. David Page is listed in the Dividing Creek congregation in 1772 and 1793. Grace Page is also listed in 1793. The Family History Library microfilm 441360 has the Minutes of the Dividing Creek Baptist Church starting in 1761. This film could be ordered at a LDS Family History Center. Hi: I have a booklet that was given to me on the 13th of June 1988 by Oliver C. Dickinson. It is called “The Civil War Diary and Letters of John Bacon Hoffman of Shiloh, New Jersey”. By Ron E. Davis, MD (1979) John B. Hoffman was the great great grandfather of Oliver C. Dickinson. I will not part with this book as it has references to my Capt. George Washington Hummel of the 10th Cumberland County New Jersey Volunteers. I am willing to share the information in the book. Names from the Shiloh Seventh Baptist Church he writes about are Lt. Alfred L. Randolph, Capt. G. W. Hummel, Sgt. Charles D. Sheppard, and Surgeon Dr. F. B. Gillette. There are also a number of pictures. Good Hunting.
