The 1850 Census for Maurice River Twp. indicates that he was born about 1802. This census also shows his children as being Sarah A. Hi Andrea, This is probably the church that Chester, Dorothy and children attended. Joe was a member so I'd imagine that the entire family were members. However, Joe's cremains are buried at the Seventh Day Baptist Church of Shiloh in Shiloh. The Woodruff United Methodist Church is situated a short distance from the family home and Doris Jeans's house that she built later. I think it's at the intersection of Parvins Mill Road and the Vineland Pike (that's what we called it) or the pike and a road that comes down from the north. There are some obituaries in the box Doris Jean's material and I'll have to dig into it and see if I can find relevant ones. Doris Jean is probably buried in the church cemetery. Hi Listers, I typed up the copy of the sexton's book that I have of the Woodruff United Methodist Church cemetery in Upper Deerfield (or Bridgeton or Woodruff, wherever you want to call it). I'm trying to fill in who's who for submission to internment.net so folks far and wide can find their kin. If you know that you have relatives in the cemetery, I'd appreciate it if you could email me so I can make sure I have as correct info as possible: ie: husband of/wife of/daughter of/son of and maiden names. I'm going to double check everything with the actual stones this spring. Thank you!! -andrea
I noticed a Husted posting, who said he grew up in Bridgeton. Charles L. Husted shows up at age 10, in the 1920 Census in Millville. He is living with (my) Margaret Langley Gifford Sheppard and her second husband, Jacob Sheppard. The census taker called Margaret "Mary," and he called Charles a grandson. Maybe Charles was a child of a daughter of Jacob, but the L. middle initial makes me curious if Charles was a Langley descendant.

I have posted most of the cemetery stones at the Yahoo site below - the photos are pretty high resolution, so make sure you use a fast connection if you download them (Yahoo does allow this). The slide show should work fine at any speed. Hope it helps someone! http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/davebates77/slideshow?.dir=/b566&.src=ph I did not get to about 50 more in the front - mostly newer and the Swing family - my apologies if you were looking for that family. I will add next time we get a sunny "warmer" day to take them. The shade trees made photos a little difficult (especially the large trees over the Swing section). I may try later in the day and use my flash next time, for some of the ones in the shade.

Wiley Alston Jerrell posted last April that "John Isaac JARRELL (Gerald/Giles) was b:1 Mar 1804, Cumberland Co NJ; d: 5 Jun 1873, probably Haleyville, Cumberland Co NJ; buried Haleyville Methodist Church Cemetery." With source quotes of Steven Carl Norman and Karen Norman Piper, Wiley also placed John Isaac as "child #3 of Zachariah JARRELL (Jarls/FitzJarrell) and Judith CORSON (Causon). He notes that the 1873 death date may actually read 1878. He has Sylvia (Silvia) PARSONS as born on 5 or possibly 25 of Nov 1807, in "Cumberland Co NJ; d: 9 May 1888, Haleyville, Cumberland Co NJ; buried Haleyville Methodist Church Cemetery; child of Jonathan PARSONS and Martha DANIELS." According to a Parsons chart by Robert Evans, Sylvia was also called Sylvie or Silvie. But at one point, Glen, you had her as the wife of a John Jarrell and also the wife of an Isaac Jarrell in fairly close years, so I am curious as to what source said she married both. I agree that the top line in your tombstone photo is unclear. What year was the photo taken, please, and did you take others that day? I also think the bottom line is crediting Herbert Parvin Jarrell, who Wiley also charted.
