WOODLAND CEMETERY "SPRING OPENING 1998" To all Genealogists in the New Jersey area: On the weekends of April 25 & 26 and May 16 & 17, The Woodland Cemetery Volunteer Committee will be hosting a "Spring Opening". This historic cemetery, located in Newark, New Jersey dates back to the Civil War. A major clean-up and restoration project has recently begun on the 55 acre cemetery. The Woodland Committee is now inviting you to come back and visit. Woodland volunteers will be on site during these weekends from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm to help you locate missing relatives, along with the Newark Police for your safety. Woodland is also looking for volunteers to help survey the cemetery, clean up the grounds (bring tools and gloves) or just come and walk around the beautiful 55 acres.
