    3. Thought I'd take a minute to pass along the title of a book I'm really enjoying--seems especially appropriate for this time of year! _Old Burial Grounds of New Jersey: A Guide_ covers wonderful old cemeteries throughout the entire state. But more than that, it talks about preserving old burial grounds; old funeral and burial customs; designs, motifs and epitaphs used on so many of the old stones and, last but not least with Halloween just around the corner, ghost stories and legends. You'll also find a listing of "notable NJ burial grounds," including Camden County's Friends Meetinghouse and Burial Ground (Haddonfield), Harleigh Cemetery and Johnson Cemetery (Camden), the Friends Burying Ground (Collingswood) and Mt. Pisgah African Methodist Burial Ground (Lawnside). Finally, the book lists notable burials in NJ, provides an appendix of county historical resources throughout the state as well as a genealogical index, and even suggests "educational activities." Published by Rutgers University Press and written by Janice Kohl Sarapin (described as a founding member of the NJ Graveyard Preservation Society--did you know there was such a thing?), _Old Burial Grounds of New Jersey_ sells for $14.95. I got mine at my local Barnes and Noble. Fun (and interesting) for this time of year when ghost and goblns roam the countryside! -- Sandy Levins sandylevins@earthlink.net
