Very well stated letter about joining the Historical Society. I just joined the Gloucester County Historical Society while back in the Garden State a few weeks ago myself. I would have gone to the Camden County Historical Society also but didn't have enough time. SINCE CAMDEN CO. at one time was part of GLOUCESTER CO., I don't suppose there is any way of knowing which one to check for any particular research. It seems that there is an overlap situation here of which there doesn't seem to be any easy way to work around. In some of my research it gets particularly difficult with Washington Township having been in Gl. Co., then put into the boundaries of Camden Co. when it was formed and then later went back to Gl. Co. Is this an accurate description? Also while I am at it, does anyone know if the book written by Judge John Clement of "Sketches of the First Emigrant Settlers of Newton Township" is available for sale anywhere. Also there is a book "Prowells History of Camden County", that I would like to find available for sale. I saw this one at the Gl. Co. Hist. Soc., but it is quite lengthy and didn't have the time to research their only copy. Wes Hayman Hotchkiss, Co.
