I have a letter from the US Army Adjutant General to a Rosanna Batten stating that Isaac Batten had deserted the US Army in 1857. I have been able to establish that Isaac S Batten was in the proper military unit and I have reason to believe that this Rosanna and Isaac Batten are Rosanna Leonard and Isaac Batten who were married in Camden Co, NJ in 1853. Unfortunately there are two (2) Isaac S Battens who might fit the bill - one the son of Charles and Mary Batten and the other the son Jeremiah and Ann Batten (m Deborah abt 1869) - both in the Gloucester/Camden county area. Can anyone help me determine who is who? Thanks PS: I can't figure out how this is connected to my family but I have Haines, Spencers and Randles in the area at the time.
