STOUT was born in German- town Pa., November 4, 1826; studied medi- cine under the instruction of Dr. Charles D. Hendry; in 1844 he matriculated at Jeffer- son Medical College, from which he obtained the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1847, after which he began practice at Berlin and in its vicinity, and still continues, being the oldest practitioner in that region.
