One more tidbit from Prowell on Wm B Hatch, on p 93, reads, in the chapter entitled The War for the Union: Among the individual offers was that of William B. Hatch, of Camden, who had served in 1859 and 1860 in the cavalry of the Russian army; he was commissioned as adjutant of the Fourth Regiment in the ninety days' service, and subsequently made major of the Fourth (three years') Regiment.
