Well, I happily wrote a letter with my genealogy to the Colestown Cemetery on April 22, 2002 asking that they check their records to see what ancestors of mine were buried there. In today's mail I received the following. From: Colestown Cemetery Company Church Road & Kings Highway, Cherry Hill, N. J. 08002 I have completed your genealogy, however there will be a charge of $100.00 dollars. Your genealogy will be sent to you upon receipt of your check. (I won't put the person's name here who wrote the letter) I have to say I am writing her a letter back explaining that I have gotten records from cemeteries all over the USA and have never been asked for one red cent. Have I just been lucky or what is going on here? Needless to say I am not paying anything to these people. Be interested if anyone else has had a similar experience with this outfit. Thanks, JSR California
Several years ago I wrote "blind" to Colestown in a request inquiring about several surnames. Not knowing whom I may have buried there, if anyone. I got back a pleasant, short letter and 3 pages of information on family members/ancestors buried there. No charges and an offer to do more if I needed anything else. I can dig out that info and give you a name if you want.
