    1. [NJCAMDEN] John Graham, Ireland & Emma Cunningham, Philadelphia & Camden
    2. Hello, This is lengthy, but I searched years for marriage or a death dates to establish existance of a g-grandfather. This information based on family records, obituary & 1870 Philadelphia Census. Here is data & speculation made. Please, critique my inferences. 1 John Graham1 Birth: ca 1841, Ireland1,2 Death: bef 1898 Occ: Stove Moulder1 1870 U.S. Census records Graham Family as consisting of John 29 (from Ireland), Emma 24, Joseph 7 & Emma 2. John's parents could read & write, but son did not. Both of John’s parents were“of foreign birth” & John was a “Male Citizen of the U.S. of 21 years age and upwards.” His occupation was stove moulder; value of real estate was $1200 & his personal estate was $200. These figures were generally higher than for 80% of other males on this census page. Known: Emma Cunningham & John Graham had 7 children. Unknown when John died; perhaps before the marriage of son, George W. & Lucy Lake as John was not mentioned in the newspaper’s account of the marriage. John’s occupation was an inherently dangerous one. Spouse: Emma Cunningham Graham Williams2,3 Birth: ca 1844, Philadelphia, PA Death: 14 Sep 1906, Philadelphia, PA4,5 Burial: 17 Sep 1906, Arlington Cemetery, Pennsauken, Camden Co, New Jersey6 Emma married Charles Williams (date unknown) & then was, again widowed. Camden Post-Telegram Saturday, September 15, 1906: “Well known woman died yesterday.” Mrs. Emma Williams, aged 62 years, a former resident of this city, died at the residence of George Reed, 1314 Spruce street, Philadelphia, yesterday from a complication of diseases. She was the mother of 7 children (1 unknown), 2 of whom, Joseph W. & George W. Graham are engaged in the coal business in this city.” Obituary7 “Emma Williams, nee Cunningham, widow of Charles Williams, aged 63 years. The relatives & friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral services, on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2 o’clock, from the residence, 2213 Sewell ave, Camden, New Jersey. Internment at Arlington Cemetery, Camden, New Jersey.” Emma is buried in a family plot purchased by son, George W. Graham6. It is not known where first husband, John, was buried. Marr: abt 1862, Philadelphia, PA? Children: Joseph W. (ca 1864-ca 1932) Emma (1868-1963) Thomas George Washington (1871-1935) John (1880-1947) Rachel (I speculate that: • John immigrated to PA about 1860. • John & Emma were married about 1862, Philadelphia, PA • John died at work as moulder, between the birth date of last child, ca 1881 & marriage of son G.Washington 24 Nov 1898. Is it reasonable to request a search of death records from 1881 to 1898or what? Thank you for any help!! Geraldine Happel Graham San Antonio, TEXAS A tree will whither if no one tends to the roots...
