    3. Could any responders please also consider a schooner owner and operator ca. 1810? I am looking for information on Samuel Spencer but I don't know his ship's name and there isn't a seaman's protection certificate on file for him. I don't know when or where he died but his family is in the city directories and census for the period around 1850-70. He was from Wilmington, DE but his eldest daughter was born in Camden in 1810 and two younger children born in PA (Philadelphia). All were raised in Camden. Thank you. Honor >>> <Jackisr@aol.com> 09/22/03 07:53PM >>> Would anyone have any suggestions on how to research captains in Camden in the 1840-50 timeframe. I would love to learn what kind of captain he was. I presume it had to do with ships, perhaps even a ferry boat? How would one research this? Thanks for any research suggestions. I have just ordered his inventory at time of death (no will) from the archives of NJ, but am intersted in learning just what his occupation was. He died December 08, 1850 presumably in Camden. 1850 US Census - North Ward, City of Camden, NJ Series: M432 Roll: 445 Page: 15 CAMDEN, CAMDEN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY: Note: Listed as JOHN BEGARY, not BEAGARY.
