    1. RE: [NJCAMDEN] Firths of Camden
    2. Deborah Johnson
    3. Jan - I can't tell you where they were in 1920, not yet anyway, but, I can tell you that in 1930, Helen and Dorothy are listed as daughters, but are in fact granddaughters, as they are both living with Horace's parents, William and Mary in the 1930 census. I can't imagine why, but, it's possible that the 1918 flu epidemic took both parents, but noone ever told the girls that it took their mother as well. We have a set of parents in our line who both died of TB in the 1920's. One of the children was taken in, but never legally adopted by a brother of the mother who died, one of them was legally adopted by a local doctor, but never told this, so she never knew that Bacon was not her birth name, and as for the two boys, well, the older generation can't recall their names or what happened to them. That's why I say, I can't imagine why they weren't just told that their mother and father died. Who knows why people did what they did back then, and even now. I'll keep looking in 1920 to see it they are with their grandparents then also. 1. [NJCAMDEN] Intro and Query - Ochsner Family
    2. Hello, My name is Dee. I am new to this list. I have been researching my family for quite a few years. I am looking for info on the following families: KAELIN and OCHSNER I have a few family pictures of my Kaelin relatives with the following written on the back: photo #1 - Kaelin relatives in Kramer Hill, New Jersey photo #2 - The Ochsners, relatives of Martin Kaelin, in Kramer Hill, New Jersey photo #3 - Kaelin relative, Freda Ochsner All three photos were taken about mid 1930s. Freda is a child of about preschool age. My Aunt, who is one of the children in these pictures, verified that Freda is the other little girl in one of the photos. I have checked a map and have found that Kramer Hill is a community on the border of Camden and Burlington Counties. So, I am looking for any info on the Ochsner Family and/or the Kaelin Family, as well as, info about Kramer Hill. Any info would be deeply appreciated. Thanks Dee Kaelin Maialetti Philadelphia, Penna. ************************ Kaelin Ancestry Page http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kaelin/index.html

    1. [NJCAMDEN] A Great New Camden URL
    2. Vince Summers
    3. I was just contacted by Phil Cohen, who asked if I would, in essence, plug his site to Rootsweb. Well I like to check at least a tiny bit before so doing, and right off the bat, I found some connections on the site - even of my own! It is a great new URL for some genealogical information. I haven't totally checked out the site, and when I say it is a great site, I am specifically referring to the genealogical information... Phil's description reads: I've just transcribed and posted the 25 Year Histrory of the Woman's Club of Camden NJ (1894-1919) at http://www.dvrbs.com/CamdenNJ-WomansClub-1894-1919.htm There are A LOT of names on this..... a list of all the Charter members, and another list of all the members in 1919..... and every elected officer is named in the year of election (Directors, too). 1. [NJCAMDEN] Daniel M. STOUT
    2. Vince Summers
    3. Another non-relative, for whom I wish no further information. This was info from a lookup in Prowell's History of Camden-- Vince. DANIEL M. STOUT was born in German- town Pa., November 4, 1826; studied medi- cine under the instruction of Dr. Charles D. Hendry; in 1844 he matriculated at Jeffer- son Medical College, from which he obtained the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1847, after which he began practice at Berlin and in its vicinity, and still continues, being the oldest practitioner in that region.

    1. [NJCAMDEN] One lookup - Joseph Anderson STOUT
    2. Vince Summers
    3. I don't personally desire any further information on this fellow. This was a lookup I granted, and is not any relation of mine other than in the Adam & Eve sense. Vince JOSEPH ANDERSON STOUT, was the son of Benjamin and Grace Stout, of Attleborough (Langhorne), Bucks County, Pa., where he was born in 1807. He studied medicine under Dr. Boil, and graduated in New York in 1831. Some time afterwards he located in Long-a-Coming (now Berlin), Camden Coun- ty, his practice extending to Winslow, Water- ford and the surrounding country. In 1838 he removed to Tuckahoe, Cape May County. From thence he went to Somers Point, At- lantic County, succeeding Dr. Lewis S. Somers, who had removed to Philadelphia. While in Tuckahoe he married, in 1839, Miss M. S. Godfrey, a sister of Hon. John Godfrey, who, after the death of Dr. Stout, married a Mr. OGden. Dr. Stout died at Somers Point April 11, 1848, and was buried in Zion Churchyard, at Bargaintown. He was a believer in the faith of universal salvation. He left four sons, but one of whom is living.1 1 Dr. Somers' "Medical History of Atlantic County."

    2. Elsa Vorwerk
    3. Responding to my request, Vince was kind enough to look up the information about Doctor Thomas F. Cullen. I would be delighted to hear from anyone with an interest in, or information about, this family, which included Thomas and his wife Elizabeth, and daughters Elizabeth R. Cullen and Margaret Rutherford Cullen (who married actor Herman Charles Dexheimer in 1886, later known as Charles D. Herman). Also associated with the family were Lavinia Stout (born about 1850, married Henry B. Simmons) and druggist Gustavus Stout (born about 1847), children from, I believe, an earlier marriage of Thomas Cullen's wife Elizabeth. Hoping that everyone is staying safe and enjoying the snow, ~ Elsa in Allegany County, Maryland Vince Summers wrote: I am not personally interested in the above fellow, but was asked for a lookup - which I did provide. 3. Hi, I am not personally interested in the above fellow, but was asked for a lookup - which I did provide. I like to share such lookups with the list when possible: THOMAS F. CULLEN was one of the few members of the Camden County Medical Society who passed an examination before its board of censors, receiving his license June 18, 1850. He was elected a member of the society in the following December. He was the son of Captain Thomas Cullen, of the Philadelphia merchant marine, and was born in that city September 3, 1822. He received his scholastic education in Mount Holly, N. J., to which place his parents had removed. Dr. Cullen studied medicine with Dr. Heber Chase, a surgeon of Philadelphia, and graduated at the University of Pennsylvania in 1844. His first field of practice was in Newark, Delaware, but in 1849 he removed to Camden. Here his great natural abilities and careful training brought him prominently forward, especialy as a surgeon, in which branch of the profession he became so skilled and successful that for the first time in its history Camden became independent of its neighbor across the Delaware for the performance of a capital surgical operation. He was an active member of the medical societies, serving as president of the city and county societies, and of the State society in 1869. While a member of the former two, no committee was complete without him. He was one of the corporators of the Camden Dispensary and Cooper Hospital. Of the former, he was two years its president, and a director of the latter until his death. He died November 21, 1877. He left no issue. Vince P.S. I wouldn't worry about it stating the father was born in PA, that's common, not PA, but, putting the wrong place down. The only thing that doesn't make sense is Rachel's father being John since in 1880, Emma's listed as a Widow, that makes it nearly impossible for her to be a widow as of June 10, 1880 and bearing a child from John in Nov. of 1881! But, at the same time, since we know that John Jr., was 5 months in 1880, making him born Jan. 1880, in the 1880 census, yet they say Jan. 1881 in the 1900 census, it's possible that Rachel is Nov., 1880, not 1881. If you do the math, 9 months back from Nov., is Feb. So, looking at it that way, and we all know census facts can be a bit off, that would make John's death sometime between Feb. and June 10, 1880. 1900 NJ, Camden Graham, George, Head, W, M, 2/1871, 29, M, 2yrs., PA, PA, PA, Coal Dealer Lucy, Wife, W, F, 10/1867, 32, M, 2yrs., 1/1, NJ, NJ, NJ Edith, Dau., W, F, 10/1899, 8 months, S, NJ, PA, NJ 1910 NJ, Camden: Graham, George W., Head, W, M, 39, M1, 11yrs., PA, US, PA, Driver, Coal Lucie, Wife, W, F, 43, M1, 11yrs., 3/3, NJ, NJ, NJ Edith, Dau., W, F, 10, S, NJ, PA, NJ George W., Son, W, M, 7, S, NJ, PA, NJ Edgar, Son, W, M, 2, S, NJ, PA, NJ 1920 Camden: No additional children, all children still single and living at home, George Sr., is now a manager at a Coal and Ice Co., Edith is a Stenographer in an office, George Jr., is unemployed and Edgar is a Clerk in an unreadable office. 1930 Camden: George Sr., Lucie, and Edgar, still reside together, it's hard to see, George is doing something with Coal, and Edgar is a Bookkeeper in a Bank. 1930, PA, Philadelphia: Graham, George, Head, W, M, 27, NJ, PA, NJ, Chiropractor, Non parctice Edna, Wife, W, F, NJ, PA, PA 1900 NJ, Camden - 3 houses from George: Graham, Joseph, Head, W, M, Apr 1862, 38, M, 2yrs., PA, PA, PA, Coal Dealer Kate, Wife, W, F, 1 or 6/1877, 23, M, 2 yrs., 0/0, NJ, Ger, Ger Cl?????, Dau., W, F, 4/1886, 14, S, NJ, PA, NJ Joseph, Son, W, M, ?/1894, 6, S, NJ, PA, NJ Seems Joseph was married prior to Kate as 0/0 means she had had no children herself by 1900. 1. [NJCAMDEN] John Graham, Ireland & Emma Cunningham, Philadelphia & Camden
    2. Hello, This is lengthy, but I searched years for marriage or a death dates to establish existance of a g-grandfather. This information based on family records, obituary & 1870 Philadelphia Census. Here is data & speculation made. Please, critique my inferences. 1 John Graham1 Birth: ca 1841, Ireland1,2 Death: bef 1898 Occ: Stove Moulder1 1870 U.S. Census records Graham Family as consisting of John 29 (from Ireland), Emma 24, Joseph 7 & Emma 2. John's parents could read & write, but son did not. Both of John’s parents were“of foreign birth” & John was a “Male Citizen of the U.S. of 21 years age and upwards.” His occupation was stove moulder; value of real estate was $1200 & his personal estate was $200. These figures were generally higher than for 80% of other males on this census page. Known: Emma Cunningham & John Graham had 7 children. Unknown when John died; perhaps before the marriage of son, George W. & Lucy Lake as John was not mentioned in the newspaper’s account of the marriage. John’s occupation was an inherently dangerous one. Spouse: Emma Cunningham Graham Williams2,3 Birth: ca 1844, Philadelphia, PA Death: 14 Sep 1906, Philadelphia, PA4,5 Burial: 17 Sep 1906, Arlington Cemetery, Pennsauken, Camden Co, New Jersey6 Emma married Charles Williams (date unknown) & then was, again widowed. Camden Post-Telegram Saturday, September 15, 1906: “Well known woman died yesterday.” Mrs. Emma Williams, aged 62 years, a former resident of this city, died at the residence of George Reed, 1314 Spruce street, Philadelphia, yesterday from a complication of diseases. She was the mother of 7 children (1 unknown), 2 of whom, Joseph W. & George W. Graham are engaged in the coal business in this city.” Obituary7 “Emma Williams, nee Cunningham, widow of Charles Williams, aged 63 years. The relatives & friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral services, on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2 o’clock, from the residence, 2213 Sewell ave, Camden, New Jersey. Internment at Arlington Cemetery, Camden, New Jersey.” Emma is buried in a family plot purchased by son, George W. Graham6. It is not known where first husband, John, was buried. Marr: abt 1862, Philadelphia, PA? Children: Joseph W. (ca 1864-ca 1932) Emma (1868-1963) Thomas George Washington (1871-1935) John (1880-1947) Rachel (I speculate that: • John immigrated to PA about 1860. • John & Emma were married about 1862, Philadelphia, PA • John died at work as moulder, between the birth date of last child, ca 1881 & marriage of son G.Washington 24 Nov 1898. Is it reasonable to request a search of death records from 1881 to 1898or what? Thank you for any help!! Geraldine Happel Graham San Antonio, TEXAS A tree will whither if no one tends to the roots...
