    1. Rupinski, Blados, Borowski, Filipkowski, Zadowska, Cupinska
    2. Tom & Natalie Coleman
    3. I am researching my maternal line. We are of Polish decent if you haven't already figured it out. My goal is to link back to Poland. However, most of my history is on the females of my family which seems to be slowing my search. My great great grandmother died Katarzyna Rupinska in 1941. She lived in Camden NJ. I believe she remarried when she came to the United States sometime after 1912 to Wojciech Rupinski (Cupinska?). They are not burried together. They married in either Parsons, PA (Now part of Wilkes-Barre), Philadelphia or New Jersey, maybe Camden. Her death certificate states her parents were John Blados & Rozalia. She came to the USA via Philadelphia in 1912 under the name Katarzyna Filipkowska - widow. From family history she was married to Cichowski prior to Filipkowski and married for the first time for which I have no information. Katarzyna came to America with my grandmother Anna Filipkowska - supposed widow of a Zadowska. She later married a Marcel Borowski and they had 4 sons. My family believes the Borowski's or Rupinski's had a farm in Doylestown - Can anyone confirm???? If anyone can help, please let me know. Also if anyone knows anything regarding the Poles emmigration from Poland. Natalie tomnatalie@erols.com

    1. Cemetary Photos
    2. Photogskh
    3. Hello Fellow List Members, I am new to the list, but thought I would include you researchers in on this. I am planning trips to the cemetaries listed below in in the next week or so. I am an amateur photographer & am going to these cemetaries to photograph headstones for folks. I use B&W film & a 35mm camera with appropriate lenses & or filters for the task. If any of you would like photos from headstones in these cemetaries, please e-mail me privately. Your only costs are for the film, processing & postage (film & processing costs are divided among the number of photos per roll---NOT each person paying the entire amount). That is all. This is not something I will be continuing, unless my health permits it. I will list the cemetary names, area, & their phone numbers. It would be much easier if you obtain the info on the location of the headstone you're interested in having me photograph. I am sorry I am unable to do any other than those cemetaries listed below. Also, please do not forward this to other lists. I have posted it to the lists from which I feel I am able to "manage" requests. Thank you, Sally Huntley photogskh@aol.com Mt. 1. Rowand Family Tree
    2. CWH610
    3. Greetings, We have been in the midst of a rather large effort to complete the Rowand Family Tree. There are a number of other surnames that interconnect with these Quaker names. Ellicksander (Alexander) Rowand is reported to have arrived in the Haddonfield area in 1675 and married Abigail Hillman. Letters have been mailed to all (260) Rowand addressees in the U.S. 43 letters were returned "Undeliverable". If you are or know anyone who is a Rowand or Rowand descendant, would appreciate that information. Some other names associated with Rowand are: Bates, Clement, Epley, Firth, Gardner, Hillman, Inskeep, Matlack, Oliphant, Rudderow, Spicer, Stiles & Ward. Wes Hayman

    1. Broderbund Grants to Aid Genealogy Groups
    2. Gary Steiner
    3. - Broderbund Grants to Aid Genealogy Groups Broderbund Software, producers of Family Tree Maker genealogy software, has announced its second annual Genealogy Group Grant Program. Quoting from Broderbund's announcement: Hundreds of genealogy groups across the nation are involved in developing new materials and resources, which benefit all genealogy enthusiasts. However, many groups with fantastic ideas are limited by financial concerns. Broderbund recognizes that each genealogy society's project has the potential to impact the overall genealogical community, and we are proud to support the community by providing financial assistance for some of these important projects. Grants to Aid Genealogical Projects Broderbund will award a total of $20,000 in a number of grants ranging in amount from $500 to $2,500. A panel of professional genealogists and representatives of large national genealogy organizations will select the winning entries. Following are general guidelines for the grants: Your society should be trying to do something special that will make a valuable genealogical contribution. Grants will be given to societies whose projects require additional funds not covered by their dues. Preference will be given to: 1) preservation projects (such as flattening documents and archiving in acid free materials); 2) projects to make otherwise inaccessible records available (microfilming, cataloguing, indexing, etc.); 3) large projects or equipment needs (e.g., purchasing a microfilm reader or computer). Application forms can be obtained by writing to Broderbund Software, Banner Blue Division Grants/Genealogy Groups, 39500 Stevenson Place Suite 204, Fremont, CA 94539. The forms are also available online at the following URL: http://www.familytreemaker.com/grantfrm.html. Applications must be received by June 15, 1998. Grant notifications will be made by July 31, 1998. Broderbund Assists Other Genealogical Endeavors Broderbund offers these and other grants because we believe that individuals and genealogy societies are the best people to provide education and instruction for the hobby. The Banner Blue Division of Broderbund continues to focus on developing the #1 family tree software, Family Tree Maker, but the company is striving to make its success benefit the entire community as well. Broderbund has given support to several national genealogy organizations in an effort to make more research tools available, whether on microfilm or in books. Its second annual scholarship program is currently underway, to assist individuals with education fees for genealogy coursework, or with fees associated with becoming Certified or Accredited Genealogists. All of this assistance is offered with no strings attached, in order to encourage the pursuit of genealogy. The above is the abbreviated announcement, you can find all the details at: http://www.familytreemaker.com ==============================================================

    1. Camden County Almshouse
    2. Howey, Robert (RTIS)
    3. I am very interested in any information on how people were admitted to the Camden County Almshouse at Lakeland. I have an ancestor (Moses HOWEY) who was admitted there sometime before 1850. From census records it appears he fathered children there. One child, Edward L. HOWEY left the home to live with the Edward HUSTON family in Delaware Twp. before 1860. From the US census it appears there were about 75 residents of the facility. Can anyone tell me what official documents would have been required to admit someone to the alms house and what documents would have been required for a minor to leave the facility? What was the age when he could have left on his own? My father and I have spoken to the staff at the current Lakeland facility and, although they have some old records, have found no records of Moses or Edward. Any help, guidance, or wisdom appreciated. Robert T. Howey Robert.howey@reedtech.com
