    1. NJ death certificates
    2. Hi all- A few weeks ago there was a short discussion about death certificates in NJ that had the cause of death blanked out. I have found out that it is a state law that copies sent by mail can not have the cause of death but the originals with the cause of death intact can by copied in person. Don't know the reason though. Just thought the reason was interesting. Regina

    3. Hello All, I use the Ultimate Family Tree Deluxe software. However, I found that World Family Tree by Family Tree Maker On-Line has several Filipkowski listings posted on their site. The catch is since I do not use this software I can pay $19.95 for a trial 9 day subscription or buy the package for $39.99. There are several lines of the Filipkpwski and would hate to explore this if I am not sure. Now that I have bored you with those details - my question is are any of you Genealogy buffs using this software and would you be willing to help me out in viewing these potential relatives. The page is http:\\www.familytreemaker.com/cgi-bin/iff I am especially interested in Jan Filipkowski and Walter Filipkowski, but ideally I would love to see'em all. Please let me know if anyone has access to this and would be willing to help. Otherwise, I may have to breakdown and sign up. ps. No other family name I am tracing shows up on their site - So I would only be signing up for these few.

    2. Tom and Natalie, Filipiowski that you located on FTM site are on a couple FTM CDs, but, most are on Social Security Death Index. You can access this on www.ancestry.com. You put in last name and it comes up with matches to look through. SSDI is free. I have some Filipkowski I located on my CDs...will forward files if you can download and access GedCom files. Also check out www.gendex.com or www.genforum.com maybe have some info there. Diane

    3. Hello, everyone. I am looking for someone who has access to a Camden city directory for 1910. I have been trying to locate my great grandparents Charles & Lillian Rittenhouse who were supposed to be living in Camden, NJ in 1910. I have been unable to locate them in the 1910 census so far but Camden County takes up 3 rolls of microfilm and there is no index. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Charlie Ottosen

    1. NJ Death Certificates
    2. I've received 4 death certificates back from NJ. One had the cause of death listed. The other three were blanked out. There doesn't seem to be a reason that I can find. Deaths occuring in 1934,1963 and 1979 were blanked out and I know that the one in 1979 was to do a heart attack. The one that had a cause od death was from 1988. Doesn't make any sense to me. You can try the funeral homes. Sometimes they have a cause of death, one of mine did and the other didn't. I guess you could try the obits. Regina

    3. Since you have the date of death, perhaps you could check the newspapers in that area for a story line, or the police dept might have a report. 2. FRED J LAUVER
    3. My guess would be to check an archive for the local newspaper around the date of death. I would assume that if there were an accident or homicide, that would not have been kept out of the news. A suicide might be more difficult to determine. Obituaries, unless they are famous people, rarely reveal the cause of death if it were suicide. If the police were involved, you'd think there were public records somewhere. Very strange that a vital records center would take the initiative to censor a cause of death unless there was civil action to require it. By the way, how long did it take Trenton to send you the certificate? I have them searching for a marriage record with an unknown date of marriage and it seems like it's taking them a long time. 3. I received in the mail today a death certificate for the NJ Dept of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics. I had to send away because Camden said they did not have a certificate on the person I requested. Well. My ancestor died in Camden, Camden County in 1940. The cause of death is blanked out of the certified copy. However, I know there was a lot of family secrecy surrounding this death and is therefore important that I know the cause of death. On the death certificate there is a section that states: If death were due to external causes fill in the following: Accident, suicide or homicide (specify) of course this is blanked out! It gives the location of the death to be a public place on a lot on the south east corner of 4th & Atlantic Avenue. Any suggestions on how to find out what happened that day??? Please my curiosity is driving me nuts. Thanks! I hope to hear many suggestions from you all.
