My neighbor is a retired former RCA (later GE) employee from Morrestown, NJ. When I mentioned the RCA-Camden query/postings for records, he said he would try writing for these records to the following address... they will either forward your request to the proper place or inform you where you can write to for the records: --- Attention: Human Resources/FORMER RCA-CAMDEN RECORDS Lockheed-Martin Borton Landing Road and Marne Highway Morrestown, NJ 08057 --- Don't know if this will help you, but you might give it a try. The Courier-Post is now online at http://www.courierpostonline.com/ It's a bit skimpy, but I guess you have to start somewhere. Of course, you can always check out the Camden County edition of the Philadelphia Inquirer - http://www.phillynews.com/inquirer/98/Aug/30/camden/ (remember to change the date in the URL, as they only keep a week's worth of editions online.)
The various unions at RCA Camden were (and are today at L-3): IFPTE - International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers http://www.ifpte.org/ ASPEP - Association of Scientists and Professional Engineering Personnel http://www.voicenet.com/~aspep/ IUE - International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Salaried, Machine and Furniture Workers http://www.iue.org/
I Emailed a friend and he replied: "In ref to the request from the girl whose father worked at RCA, I think one avenue she could take is to contact the union which may know where he is now. I suppose the union still exits. It was called American Federation of Technical Engineers, Local 241(Draftsmens and Technicians)" Bob -- ^^^^^ ^^^^^ ^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^ In The Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania
I asked my Dad, who retired from RCA in the mid-80s, about this. He recalled that when GE took RCA over, all personnel/benefits records were transferred to GE in Princeton, NJ. Might be worth a try...that is, if nobody's taken GE in Princeton over. -- Sandy Levins sandylevins@earthlink.net
My father used to work at RCA in Camden also back in the sixties and seventies. He was a draftsman. He worked there for 30 some odd yrs till he retired from the moorsetown plant in the early 90's after it was bought out by ge.
Well, Fred... Me, too. My Uncle Edward Clifford Ayres Junior was an RCA Engineer, say, back about, oh, 50 years ago. He didn't exactly retire. He got ephysema and had to quit. I believe he was on call to repair radio station equipment. I have little on him, so whatever you can come up with... Thanks. Vince
Fred I am also interested in any information you may find out about employees of RCA. My father worked for them for 30 years. Please forward any info of interest. Thanks, Cathy ---------- > Trying to track a relative who worked at RCA in Camden
Trying to track a relative who worked at RCA in Camden circa 1947. If anyone has knowledge of any way to inquire about records of former employees of RCA, please let me know. I realize that RCA has changed hands more than once, but it's a long shot due to the lack of success on other avenues. And, no, I do not know a Social Security number for the person I seek. Just in case by luck that someone has specific knowledge, the person I'm looking for is Edward Carl TIPTON, born between 1920 and 1923. Fred Lauver FJLauver@prodigy.net
Good Morning Everyone, I have been researching my great grandmother Sarah Ann PAYNE, born in London in 1856-58. Until last year, we thought she had come to NJ as a young widow (between 1881-1886) with two little girls and no other family. In 1886 she married my great grandfather James Corbett BROWNE in Camden. Last summer I found her parents, James PAYNE and Charlotte JOHNSON buried with her in Monument Cemetery in Burlington County.(no stone!) Charlotte died in 1895, but I have since found James in records in Camden and Gloucester Counties, he died in 1907. I had a lucky break last week and found that many members of the PAYNE family came over and settled in Camden in the 1870's. I have only been to Trenton once since then but so far have: William PAYNE--born 1828 in England, wife Sarah, he owned a shoe manufacturing business in Camden. He is in the 1900 census, have not tied down a death date yet. I believe he is the older brother of James PAYNE, father of Sarah Ann. Clifford PAYNE--wife Julia, born 1856 England, children--Arthur, Gertrude, Ethel and William,I believe he may be a son of William born 1828, also shoemaker Arthur PAYNE--brother to Clifford, wife Katie, born England 1860, children-- Leslie(male), Pearl(married Orrin SPRANGLER), also a shoemaker James G. PAYNE--son of James and Charlotte, born 1871 England, wife Anna Jane SUITERS, shoe cutter Frederick J. PAYNE--son of James and Charlotte, born 1866 England, wife Ida V. DEANE, children--Lillian, shoe cutter Jennie PAYNE--a witness in 1891 to the marriage if James G. PAYNE so I believe she may be a sister, not listed in the 1900 census so she may have married or died by then Sorry for the length of this but I would love to make contact with any of my PAYNE cousins and share research. Also possibly in Camden Co were Sarah Ann's daughters by her first marriage--Caroline Charlotte(Carrie) LEE and Maud Lillian LEE. I believe Carrie married Harry BALMER and Maud married Walter(?) COMPTON. Thanks for any help! Kathy

The recent spam postings have forced me to turn NJCAMDEN-L into a "closed" list, which means that only people who have subscribed to the list can post to it. This should cut down on future spams, as it should prevent any robot postings. The same person who posted to this list also attempted to post to all the other New Jersey lists. Most of those lists were already closed, so they did not even see it. Gary Steiner gsteiner@cyberenet.net NJCAMDEN-L Listowner
