>>>>Can anyone tell me anything about Harleigh Cemetery in Camden? Is it still there? Directions to it?<<<< Harleigh Cemetery in Camden is in very good condtion and still operating. The people in the office are very friendly and co-operative. The cemetery is on the border with Collingswood[maybe even partially in Collingswood]. It is just a few blocks from the Ferry ave PATCO station. This is a very attactive and pleasent place that is well worth the visit. Milton E. You can find a list of cemeteries in Camden County on the Camden County pages of NJGenWeb. http://www.cyberenet.net/~gsteiner/njgenweb/camden/ There are two cemeteries in Berlin - the Berlin Cemetery and Gate of Heaven Cemetery. As a general rule, Gate of Heaven is Roman Catholic and Berlin Cemetery is Protestant, but there are Protestants buried in Gate of Heaven and Roman Catholics buried in Berlin Cemetery. Can anyone tell me anything about Harleigh Cemetery in Camden? Is it still there? Directions to it? Just found out gparents, Dewees, are burried there. Thanks, Peter Taylor
I am trying to locate records of my cousin who was a Freeholder Politician in around the 1915 time period. Does anyone know if there is a list or a directory that I could look through or send for? He was from Camden, NJ. Thank you. Kathy
Since I live out of state, I don't have access to this information. If the list is not too extensive, could someone send me a list of the cemeteries located in Berlin, NJ? Thanks. Kathy
Does anyone know if Camden, NJ ever published a City Directory of 1910 or 1911. I know Trenton, NJ did and I was wondering if there was one for Camden? Thanks everybody. Kathy
Fred, Thanks for the response to my RCA query. I will write to the address you have given me. My grandfather, James McCaffrey, worked in the Warehousing Section of RCA from 1924 until his retirement in the late 1950s I believe. I also tried getting records from my grandmother's employment at Campbell Soup Co. in Camden, NJ but was unsuccessful. Thanks for all your help. Kathy

Years ago > they were in Camden, NJ. My grandparents worked there and I would like > to find out if they have their employment records. Thank you. =================================================== Kathy, I recently asked the same question. I've copied some of the replies below. Hope this helps. Fred Lauver (searching for former RCA, Camden, employee Edward Carl TIPTON) FJLauver@prodigy.net ====================== My neighbor is a retired former RCA (later GE) employee from Morrestown, NJ. When I mentioned the RCA-Camden query/postings for records, he said he would try writing for these records to the following address... they will either forward your request to the proper place or inform you where you can write to for the records: --- Attention: Human Resources/FORMER RCA-CAMDEN RECORDS Lockheed-Martin Borton Landing Road and Marne Highway Morrestown, NJ 08057 --- ================================ As a former RCA employee, (Government Purchasing ; Corporate Staff Purchasing;) from 1953, I am not familiar with that name. Do you know where in Camden he worked? Would he have had a government clearance (RCA was a Navy facility). AOL has a directory and using RCA, it will pull up all profiles with RCA anywhere in profile. I have found some former employees in that manner. As you may know, in that time frame there was about 13,000 employees working in Camden. Old personnel records are probably down in the "catacombs" (dead storage). Have you tried calling the GE Human Resource office to see if they can be of any help. I believe there is still a group of retired RCA employees that get together in the area. Maybe an ad in the Courier Post would uncover something. Good Luck, Virginia Norton, Orange Park, FL. ======================== Fred, RCA is now either Martin Marietta or Lockheed Martin; I think the latter. No matter, you should be able to contact them using RCA. I work for the Postal facility that delivers their mail and everyone there knows what to do with RCA mail. You should probably just address it to the personnel dept. at RCA Corp., Camden, NJ 08101. They should be able to tell you whether they have the information you want or where you can get it. As for his Social Security number, have you tried looking him up on the Social Security Death Index at www.ancestry.com ? If the person you seek has passed away he should be listed. It will show where the SS number was issued, DOB, DOD, place of death and where any benefits were paid. Good luck, Joe jwklaudi@prodigy.net ========================== I asked my Dad, who retired from RCA in the mid-80s, about this. He recalled that when GE took RCA over, all personnel/benefits records were transferred to GE in Princeton, NJ. Might be worth a try...that is, if nobody's taken GE in Princeton over. -- Sandy Levins sandylevins@earthlink.net ================================== The old RCA plant is still there, though some of the original buildings have been demolished. The Camden County Historical Society has some information on RCA, but most of that is probably earlier than what you're looking for. You can see a picture of part of their exhibit on the CCHS website. http://www.cyberenet.net./~gsteiner/cchs/ There are several RCA "old-timers" groups that meet in the South Jersey area. Also, there is a genealogy group that meets at the Cherry Hill library that has several former RCA employees as members. http://www.cyberenet.net/~gsteiner/gensig/ General Electric took over RCA in 1986. GE then sold its aerospace division, which included the Camden plant, to Martin Marietta in 1992. Martin Marietta merged with Lockheed to form Lockheed Martin in 1995. Lockhhed Martin sold off the Camden plant to a new company in 1997, which is called L-3 Communications. So, with all these companies, it is hard to say where any original records would be, assuming that those records weren't tossed in a dumpster. http://www.l-3comm.com/CS-East/ ================================ The various unions at RCA Camden were (and are today at L-3): IFPTE - International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers http://www.ifpte.org/ ASPEP - Association of Scientists and Professional Engineering Personnel http://www.voicenet.com/~aspep/ IUE - International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Salaried, Machine and Furniture Workers http://www.iue.org/ =============================
Does anyone know how to obtain employment records from RCA. Years ago they were in Camden, NJ. My grandparents worked there and I would like to find out if they have their employment records. Thank you.

Anyone have any guesses as to which cemetery Zachariah might be buried in? He is listed in the 1860 Census as N.Ward Camden City Page 588. Any help with this individual of any kind would be appreciated. This is the first real clue to the Colhouer line since I found Joanna Colhouer was buried, not in Camden, but in North Laurel Hill, to a plot with her husband, born in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia, PA. Thanks, Vince
Hi, folks... I think I have found another relative. Maybe a father for Joanna Colhouer. Zachariah C. Colhouer, listed in the 1860 Census as being in N.Ward Camden City Page 588. Is anyone familiar with this name, or can someone look this up for me? It is harder, isn't it, to get a lookup in a city, because the census can not be recorded in a little skinny book. That is why in the little back-wood areas that I seek for some family I find overwhelming lookup material, but in a big city, not too much. Am I right? Vince
I am looking for a RICHARDS that lived in Audubon, NJ. The last contact was in 1971. We were in THe US Marine Corps together from 1961-1964 I think his first name was William (Bill) Can anyone help? Folks... Someone who has been helping me in my researches, saw an obit for Runnemede. I think this is Camden County, but if I am wrong, please correct me. Anna (O'Hara) BROGAN, died January 1, 1998, aged 94. Now I do not know her. But I have a Brogan relative, Sarah (BROGAN) Summers, later remarried to Sarah McManus. She may have had the same parents as this Anna... My relative, however, lived in Manayunk, Philadelphia, PA. If you have any info on Anna Brogan, though, please contact me so I can see if there is any connection. I had a relative Elizabeth REES, married to George K. FITZGERALD. REES has been spelled more correctly, RHYS, and some have changed this to RICE, I read. Does anyone know a RHYS or a REES in the Camden and surrounding county areas who has changed their name to RICE, since about 1795? If so, please contact me. Hello Everyone, I wrote a few weeks ago regarding my attempts to help an English gentleman find his American cousins who settled in Camden, Collingswood, and Woodlynne. I would again like to thank this list for their generous responses. I know at least one of the RUBIE cousins left a will. I copied the page in Trenton Archives with the docket #s etc. I sent this to the state with an application and was told this will does not exist! I have several questions: Where would I go in Camden Co to look at wills from 1920 on up? Do they copy and send out through the mail? What are the costs per page? Bob is trying to trace descendents so any wills would be very helpful! I live in Burlington County and they charge $3/page yet I order mail order probate records from VT at 25 cents/page, get them in a week , no postage charge. So I am curious about the best way to approach this type of research in Camden Co. I would appreciate any information and/or advice. Thank you! Kathy
