    1. [NJCAMDEN-L] YES!!! She is found!
    2. Vincent Edward Summers
    3. Thanks to all of you. I have found my sister. They went unlisted with a different phone number due to pestering phone calls. I had not called in a couple of years, so they thought I had become alienated to them (by the slander of a family miscreant), and I had no way of knowing... Then all of you, and the final click of insight came due to a comment from Gary in a letter, found her without my believing you really had. Of course I was thankful for your efforts. But in actuality, you had found her. I called this morning, got them, and not only had a wonderful chat, but found out my sister has been seeking (in her mind at this point) to figure out the old family lines! And, she has a few photos! And a courtship diary of my Grandfather! And all those memories and insights. She has email. Eventually, as I help her learn the intricacies of her computer via email, I will suggest she join this group. Well, enough for now, and many heartfelt thanks! Vince

    1. [NJCAMDEN-L] Phone Number
    2. Vincent Edward Summers
    3. Folks! First an apology. Some of you sent me a phone number for Richard J. Bleistein. At first I though you were using old phone books. Now I realize that he went unlisted for some reason or other, and is, this year, listed again. The old number that I had called was reassigned. Here is the point. I do not have the number now, even though Gary sent it to me today! And others had sent it to me. I want to call my sister, as quickly as I can -- immediately if possible-- can you give me that new number? Thanks... Richard J. Bleistein 133 Park ave. Collingswood, NJ Vince

    3. Library of Congress' experimental search engine at: <http://lcweb2.loc.gov/resdev/ess/> A lot of the information was not genealogy related, of course, but a pretty substantial amount was -- and if you add the given names, that percentage goes up pretty quickly. This is an excellent resource. The materials are not available on the 'net, but you can find *lots* of books that you may wish to get through inter-library loan. Carol (Bishop) Holt Middle Tennessee

    1. [NJCAMDEN-L] Census Helps
    2. Carol Holt
    3. Are you interested in finding Census information on your ancestors, but don't know where to go. Here are some helpful helps: Census Lookup <http://www.rootsweb.com/~uslookup/> Camden County is listed under New Jersey. Surname to Soundex Converter <http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/3916/soundex.html> Census Blank Forms These forms are very helpful to use when you are transcribing from microfilm. Many libraries do not have reader/printers. <http://www.familytreemaker.com/00000023.html> For your information, I have found that some CDs that are sold and are Census Index end up containing information that tells you where you go to look up the information on the actual census. Beginner Genealogists may not realize this, they are mistaken by thinking the actual Census pages are on the CD. This not be the case on all CDs though. Hopefully, in the future these records can be done digitally and actual records would be on the CDs. Carol (Bishop) Holt Middle Tennessee Carolh@infoave.net

    3. Hi again. I am still trying to find my sister who moved and left no address. We are not at all on bad terms. I am not sure what happened to them. Computer searches have done no good until I just turned up, possibly, her daughter, Stacey Bleistein. I obtained S. Bleistein Central Ave. Stratford, NJ She would be just about the right age to move out on her own and not yet be married. Can anyone lookup her (not phone number) total address? I want to make sure the letter gets there. If it is not her, I have apologized for bothering the householder in the letter. 1. Re: [NJCAMDEN-L] Camden County Historical Society
    2. Very well stated letter about joining the Historical Society. I just joined the Gloucester County Historical Society while back in the Garden State a few weeks ago myself. I would have gone to the Camden County Historical Society also but didn't have enough time. SINCE CAMDEN CO. at one time was part of GLOUCESTER CO., I don't suppose there is any way of knowing which one to check for any particular research. It seems that there is an overlap situation here of which there doesn't seem to be any easy way to work around. In some of my research it gets particularly difficult with Washington Township having been in Gl. Co., then put into the boundaries of Camden Co. when it was formed and then later went back to Gl. Co. Is this an accurate description? Also while I am at it, does anyone know if the book written by Judge John Clement of "Sketches of the First Emigrant Settlers of Newton Township" is available for sale anywhere. Also there is a book "Prowells History of Camden County", that I would like to find available for sale. I saw this one at the Gl. Co. Hist. Soc., but it is quite lengthy and didn't have the time to research their only copy. Wes Hayman Hotchkiss, Co.
