I know some of you have Burlington County roots as well, and since it is a neighboring county, I though I would let you know that the Burlington County pages of NJGenWeb have been redone by the new coordinator. You can check it out at http://www.rootsweb.com/~njburlin/ Gary Steiner gsteiner@cyberenet.net
this page was brought to my attention on another list I'm on......I've seen many of the surnames on this list.....please take the time to read the info on this page... http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/fraud/fraud1.htm Shirl
http://www.citydirectories.psmedia.com this site has the 1859 Philadelphia City Directory online to search..the Camden Directory is in the back....hope you find someone.. Shirl
To: Shirl, In response to her response to "Den49co@aol.com" reply to her question. In response to your question I can see nothing at all wrong with the way you were replied to. You state that you thought the purpose of these lists were for people to help each other. What do you think "Den49co@aol.com" did? He gave you an answer to your question. What are you expecting? I thought your reply to his assistance was rather terse and would deter anyone else from attempting to give any help. I TOO LIVE on a rather MEAGER SOCIAL SECURITY check, but am not crying about it. Folks, If you will recall, it was through this site that I obtained information leading to a beehive of living relatives. Their information is beginning to pour in, so I will have questions. I will keep emails short and to the point so noone will feel intimidated. First, and I quote: Back in time to 1930 and as the story goes--- Nanny Sommers rode the bus between Barrington and Camden. Towards Camden, on the Haddon Ave. route, after Kaighns Ave. and before Newton, on the left side, stood an orphanage with a play yard in fron. Riding the bus Nanny noted Vera, Elizabeth and Rose playing. They all had flaming red hair. Nanny took the girls to live with her family with a compassionate act and probably for some money she would receive. We know the time frame because Elizabeth was born in 1915... This lady Elizabeth, married "Nanny's" son, Paul Thomas Sommers, and became my Aunt Elizabeth, sadly now plagued with Alzheimer's Disease. Does anyone know the name of the orphanage, or recognize any of the names here presented? Thanks, Vince

Those of you researching in Southern NJ might want to visit the web sites of the Camden County Historical Society and the Gloucester County Historical Society. Both have a listing of their holdings, a list of publications for sale and membership application forms. Both have information on other counties in the area. I have seen many of the surnames mentioned on these maillists in included in their lists. Please check them out. The costs are the same, but, the archives will do more research for your money. Diane

I wish I could afford to join every society where I'm doing research, but I live on a very meager social security check..nevertheless...not sure why I feel a need to qualify asking for information, thought that was the purpose of these lists..to help each other.... thank you to others for your help:) Shirl Den49co@aol.com wrote: > A Camden City Directory could provide the answer. 370 works for documents dated later than May, 1978.... I just had mine returned also, so I know that's the problem...did you get a red card..if so read it closely..and I believe you'll see that nothing but the P.O. Box is different...
