    1. [NJCAMDEN] RE: NJCAMDEN-D Digest V02 #56
    2. .(RBC) Edie Gardner
    3. Jane! Good morning. Read your post RE: Delanco Camp Meeting, yesterday. Last night, I spoke to my mother a preacher's wife and senior services director @ Haddonfield UMC and she knew all about it. The Delanco Camp Meeting Association originated in the town Delanco, NJ (Burlington County). It was founded as a "holiness" (Asbury College type theology rather than Drew University type theology) camp meeting. She wasn't sure of the founding date. She thought that it was established sometime in the 1800's. In 1965 or so, the association moved to Tabernacle, NJ (Burlington County). Today, the association describes itself as a Wesleyan inter-denominational holiness camp meeting association. Here is some contact information to help you in your exploration... www.delanco.org www.campmeeting.org Delanco Camp Meeting Association 171 Sooy Place Road Tabernacle, NJ 08088-9611 Dobbins Memorial United Methodist Church 320 Union Avenue Delanco, NJ Happy hunting! Where could I find information about when it started, who started it, how long it was there? What religious denomination was it? 3. Mary Caldwell ROGERS, born March 25, 1828 and died August 22, 1889, was married to (on March 5, 1851) John Elwood Sr STOCKHAM Where? Hard to say... Choices: Perryman, Harford County, Maryland Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Camden, New Jersey It is said, in the 1870 Census for North Ward Camden, that she was born PA. In another reference, her parents are listed as born Ulster. Since one family source believes she was born (as were her parents) in Ireland, it would seem to be that she is of Irish stock, but was really born in PA. If anyone knows anything of this particular ROGERS, I would like to know about it. I show for parents: Mr. ROGERS m. Elizabeth CALDWELL. Thanks, Vince Summers

    1. [NJCAMDEN] New to the list - need help!
    2. Hi all! I'm new to this list, and this is a shot in the dark but thought I would ask for advice. Two brothers in our family went to Camden NJ from Upper Oxford, Chester County PA to learn the trade of millwright in around 1830. Is there any way for me to see whose house they were residing or where they were? Also, are there any marriages recorded for 1825 - 1835 for the Quaker religion anywhere? These brothers were Quaker and if I could find a marriage for one of them in Camden, I could get somewhere with a real brick wall of a gg-grandfather!! Thanks for any advice! Sincerely, Sandy Lovell

    2. Karen Howland
    3. O.K. Merle, I'll try and pay attention. The LDS has the Camden City Directories listed from: 1863 through 1931. Then it skips to 1940. There are some years that were not published and some that are missing. But they have the majority of them. You might be able to fill in those years by checking with the Camden County Historical Society. I know they have some of the directories, but don't know which ones. Hope that helps. Karen P.S. Even though the catalog states that the years start at 1863, the actual film starts at 1862.

    1. [NJCAMDEN] Misspelt: STOCKHOLM should be STOCKHAM
    2. Vincent Summers
    3. Allow me to ask a rather sweeping lookup request for STOCKHAM being mis-entered STOCKHOLM. Charles Edward STOCKHAM and his brother, John Elwood STOCKHAM were natives of Penn's Manor near Bristol, Bucks County Pennsylvania, and Perryman, Harford County Maryland, respectively. Both wound up in Philadelphia owning and operating a sawmill business of some size, as well as in Camden NJ at another time period. If you have a database during the time of about the 1830's until about 1920, and can do a quick lookup for only the misspelling STOCKHOLM, I would appreciate it, as this may help me fill in any missing information on this line. Formerly, I had been looking for STOCKHAM and STOCKUM, STOCKEM, STOCKAM, etc. Here is what I found in the 1861 Camden portion of the Philadelphia City Directory: Stockham John & Charles, lumber, 406 Water Stockham John, 509 N 2d Stockholm Charles, 518 N 2d <-- Notice misspelling of name. Thanks, Vince Summers

    1. [NJCAMDEN] Nelson Rogers
    2. Carter and Bev Rogers
    3. I am looking for my GGrandfather, Nelson ROGERS. Family tradition was that he was a Ship Captain in New Jersey. Nelson Rogers and his wife Anna cannot be found in the 1860 New Jersey census, nor can my Grandfather, Albert ROGERS, b Jan 20, 1860 in New Jersey according to the family, be found in that census. I have not been able to find a wedding date for Nelson and Anna nor any proof of birth. My Grandfather reportedly told another grandson that as a boy he could see the skyline of Philadelphia, so I assume that he lived in the Camden area. I am wondering if anyone would do a lookup in a Camden directory, and/or in a Philadelphia directory c1858-1865 to see if a Nelson ROGERS can be found there. Tradition is that Nelson was killed in a boat accident and that my Grandfather was raised by maiden aunts in Wisconsin, so that range of dates are the most probable. Thank you for your help. Any other suggestions about how to find Nelson, Anna, and Albert records would also be appreciated. Carter Rogers Tempe, Arizona

    1. [NJCAMDEN] 1920's-1930's Yearbook Lookup Request COURANT
    2. Vincent E. Summers
    3. Hi... I am looking at the postcard that told me someone knows my aunt and uncle! Dear Vincent, Yes we know Bessie COurant. We received your letter the day before we left on this Florida vacation. We will write when we get home. Sally & Glen Courant Sigh! They never, ever did, and I have never found them in any online phonebook. I seem to recall that I found them initially by someone answering my request for school yearbook lookups for the surname COURANT from 1920's to 1930's. Unfortunately, the individual who helped me replied to me personally, as there is no such answer appearing in any of the relevant Rootsweb archives. Does anyone recall doing this lookup before for me, or can someone do any lookups in Catholic Schools Yearbooks? I really, really want to find Sally! Thanks, Vince Summers
