Harleigh Cemetery is very well kept and run. The people in the office are extremely helpful. A phone call to them will give you all the information you wish and usually more than you hoped for.
Harleigh Cemetery is extremely well kept and the folks working in the office have gone out of their way to be helpful in my situation. JayCee

Does anyone know anything about the Harleigh Cemetery in Camden?? What condition is it in?? Are there any books or plot maps?? Is there anyone willing to do some lookups?? I am looking for my g-grandfather Lafayette Miller (d. 1904) and his two brothers Richard Thompson Miller (d. 1906) and Jonas Stanbury Miller (d. 1906). There are probably other family members there. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Dear Mr. Sharp: I'm certain that the CCHS used your money appropriately. I was a Trustee and Officer for several years. The Society's interest in Evergreen is sincere and reverent. It was always a long term goal to do what we could to clean up, lobby for care and attention and preserve the records. I have several direct ancestors buried there, also. I would not respect the Society's intent blindly. Evergreen and it's history is better preserved today than prior to 1999. But, it could be better yet. The next step would be very costly. I thank the Society for their continued efforts and challenge all to support their overall mission and specifically any activity to save and protect Evergreen Cemetery. Dennis E. Cox

Does anyone have a map or plot plan of Evergreen? |
My gr-grandfather, Richard Wood Sharp, along with other members of the family are buried in Evergreen. See my webpage - http://sharp.rootsweb.com/evergreen.htm - for details and photos [taken by my uncle] from a 1999 clean-up effort. Since I couldn't offer in-person help (I'm in Los Angeles) I sent money to a CCHS fund to help support the clean-up. I've never received any acknowledgement other than my canceled check nor did I hear if/how that money was used. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Malcolm Schalick Sharp http://sharp.rootsweb.com -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 22, 2002 12:41 PM Subject: [NJCAMDEN] Evergreen Cemetery > Hi List, > Camden has been fairly quiet of late! Hi List, Camden has been fairly quiet of late! Last year a bunch of us met at Evergreen Cem. on a Sat. to try and find our ancestors and check the status of this once lovely cemetery but suffering from neglect. We were thrilled to find that CCHS library had recently acquired the plot books and some of us even found our missing ancestors that day after a visit to the library and then back to the cemetery. Does anyone know if the clean up crew from Camden followed through with their plans to gradually improve this site? Has anyone been there lately that could give an update on Evergreen.
