    3. Hello, This is my first posting here. I am researching my ancestor James W. Leach b. about 1802, he was orphaned, and was raised by Joseph Wright b. 1777, who married Rebecca Bunting b. 1782. Joseph Wright and his wife and children (Lydia, John, Mary Ann, Caroline) left Burlington Co NJ to selttle in Salem, Columbiana Co OH in the Fall of 1809. Salem, OH was a small community founded and settled by Quakers starting in 1803. Joseph Wright and his family were Quakers at Chesterfield MM in Burlington Co., NJ. They left there in 1809. In the Fall of 1809, Joseph Wright was in Salem, OH and went to visit a John Spenser there. I am not sure the relationship between the 2 men. James W. Leach was raised as a foster son by Joseph Wright in Salem, OH. James was with them in the Fall of 1809, so he must have been orphaned in Burlington Co NJ, and then when the move was made to Salem, OH in Fall 1809 he was brought with them. James W. Leach b. about 1802 married in 1826 to Mary Bowker, d/o Isaiah Bowker, who was from Burlington Co NJ, but had settled in Salem, OH. James and Mary Leach married in Salem, OH and both died there, and are buried in Hope Cemetery there. I have researched for 4 years to find the FATHER of James W. Leach, but so far have found nothing. Does anyone remember any LEACH-LEECH-LEITCH family in Burlington Co NJ in the 1790-1809 time frame? My other clue, is that James W. Leach made several census statements, that his MOTHER was born in IRELAND. This might be true or false, as he would have been small when orphaned, so his recollection might be correct, or in error. I would appreciate any help and advice. I had wanted to find the 1800 census of Burlington Co NJ to see if there were any LEACH families listed, but I now know that the census is lost. Is there anyone with access to a TAX ROLL for 1800 in Burlighton Co NJ? Could you look for LEACH in any spelling? Best regards, Lilly Martin
