>>>DAR records show an application for Abram Haynes b. 1758. The correct >service will have to be proven.<<< > > If anyone does descend from the above Abram Haynes there is a file. Abram didn't receive a pension because he failed to provide proof of his service. He applied for his pension in 1831, 50 years after his service. And 50 years after, it is difficult to find men that you served with, in order to have them sign affidavits attesting to your service. Barbara
Would there still be a file giving some ideas of possible service? There are many more records available today. Also look for Patriotic service. >>>Would there still be a file giving some ideas of possible service?<< > Sally There is a "pension file" at NARA, which gives his service but he was not approved for his pension. The info he filed regarding his service states that he served 9 months as pvt in Capt Wm Shute's company, 2nd NJ Regiment. He was on the expedition to Canada and in the battle of Three Rivers, & battle of Red Bank. He enlisted for another 3 years in Burlington NJ Apr 4, 1778 and served against the Indians in the Wyoming Valley. He was at Short Hills and was taken prisoner. He was in a skirmish near Quinton's Bridge - discharged at Woodbury NJ Barbara
