    1. [NJBurlin] Silpath - Lenni Lenape

    3. Hello. I am researching the Silpath line. The earliest documented Silpath I have is from the late 1700s. The family has been in the Burlington County/City and Philadelphia area since then. The one major mystery has been the story that the original Silpath was a Native American. Each branch of the Silpath family knows this story. There is only one Silpath family. If you find a Silpath, that person is related in some way to me. Today I found an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer from Oct 24, 1901. It was the death notice for Albert H. Silpath. Albert had been the mayor of Burlington but towards the end of his life, was living in Philadelphia with his wife (Sarah Elizabeth Woolman) and some of their children. In the notice, it says the following groups were invited to the services that were to be held in Burlington: Burlington Lodge No. 22, I O O F? P? Lenni Lenape Tribe, No. 12, Imp. O. R. M. of Burlington, N. J.. My questions are: does anyone know anything about the "Lenni Lenape tribe" that is mentioned in the notice? Does the fact that there were invited to the services mean that Albert was a member? Does anyone know what Imp. O.R.M. means? Any info is greatly appreciated!
