    3. Hi Joan Its been some time since we last talked, Lets see Back then was it just east and west NJ or were their counties? If counties what county would it be back then. I do not know if it was Burlington Twp. or Burlington County, I do not think the counties had been formed yet, but I do not know that to be so. The marriage was at the Burlington Friends Meeting List, it was only the 3rd marriage recorded in the First Book of the Burlington Friends Meeting. The Marriage Certificate was signed by the religious and social leaders of the community. The information that I have is out of the book: "Genealogy of the Descendants of Thomas French" by Howard Barclay French it is on PAGE: XiX = SPIRIT AND MISSION OF QUAKERISM it Starts off: One of the Earliest marriages at Burlington, number three on the recorded Friends Meeting list. I do not know if this is the same names or not it maybe that the names I give here are from another marriage and if so I would like information on both of them. The names I have would be: Capt. Robert ZANE & Alice ALDAY, Daughter of the Chief of Unami Clan of the Lenni-Lenape Tribe: Sachem ALDAY. Are the series of books Published? If so by whom and where? What would be the full title of the series of books? Along with any other information you can give me on them, this is all I have for now. Thank you until we talk again, peace be with you and yours. If you give me the names of the people you are looking for on the marriage records I'll see what I can find in the books. Give us all the information you have. Are you sure they were married in Burlington County or might they have been married in Salem County? Did the ceremony take place at a Quaker Monthly Meeting? If so, the "Indian maiden" must have become a member of the Quaker meeting for the ceremony to have taken place at the MM. Otherwise the marriage would have been listed as taking place "MOU" Marriage Out of Unity. Joan In a message dated 7/31/2008 4:21:58 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, tedrvb@bellsouth.net writes: Hello Everyone I am looking for the Burlington Friends Record's, I am looking for the number three marriage recorded Friends Meeting list, and it was: a young Friend of Fenwick's Colony at Salem, with an Indian maiden, she was the daughter of an American Indian Chief. Her Marriage Certificate was signed by the religious and social leaders of the community. Question is their a place where I can go on the internet that would have all these records, I am looking for hers to find out her name and that of her fathers as well as to whom she married. So I may be able to trace it forward and see just where the blood line flows in present time. I would like to do so with all American Indians, where I can find a record on them, I do know that this is hard to impossible in a lot of cases because they had to hide being American Indian at points in time. It did not seem to be the case at this point in time so it may make it easer to track them if the names are known and what tribe they came from since their was a lot more than one tribe in every state. Just because a Tribe was not listed in a certain area dose not mean that no one from that tribe were in that area, they may have a good reason for being there and/or married someone from that area that was American Indian or not Indian one never knows. Any information that you can help me with will be greatly appreciated whether it be from personal or public records. Thank you until we talk again, peace be with you and yours. Theodore R.
