    1. [NJBurlin] STOWELL Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" two old photographs which I believe both belong to the STOWELL Family of Pennsylvania. The first is a photograph of Clara STOWELL which was taken at the Thos. Baker Studio in Burlington, New Jersey. The photograph was taken in the 1870's or 1880's with Clara appearing to be in her teens at the time. The second photograph is unidentified, however, the woman in this second photograph looks very similar to Clara. The second photograph is of an older woman, probably in her 50's, taken at the H. J. Thein Studio in Newark, NJ sometime in the 1880's. Based on limited research I was able to locate the family in census records as follows: 1870 census of Burlington, NJ: Charles STOWELL, age 45, a Shoemaker, born NJ Elizabeth STOWELL, age 42, Keeping House, born England Lizzie STOWELL, age 18, born NJ Henry STOWELL, age 16, born NJ Frank STOWELL, age 14, born NJ Clara STOWELL, age 7, born NJ Cortlandt STOWELL, age 3, born NJ 1880 census of Burlington, NJ: Charles STOWELL, age 56, born NJ, a Policeman, father born NH Elizabeth STOWELL, wife, age 53, born England, parents born England Frank STOWELL, son, age 23, born NJ, a Cain Maker Clara STOWELL, dau, age 17, born NJ, at Home Courtland V.
