Thank you for alerting us to this National Geographic documentary on "The Human Family Tree". It just proves what I have believed for many years - there is no such thing as "race". At one time we were all darked skinned because we all came from Africa where the dark skin was necessary to protect us from the sun's rays. Some of us have light skin because our ancestors migrated north where protection from the sun was not needed as much. All of our physical features developed over the last 200,000 years because of the environment in which our ancestors lived. Even our cultural lives - the way we dress, the foods we eat, the way we worship, the activies we enjoy - are inherited from our ancestors and the environments in which they lived. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we lived in a world where we acepted and appreciated each other's inherited ancestry! ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rdpiet@aol.com> To: <nj@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 12, 2009 1:13 PM Subject: Re: [NJ] Human Family Tree > Sun Aug 30th 9 PM EST on Nat Geo channel will have a > dcumentary on "The Human Family Tree" ..... > > > > ********* > Visit the threaded archives of this list: > http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/NJ > ********* > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > NJ-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in > the subject and the body of the message
