Here's what I have on John Crane: Born 1843 in Philadelphia Enlisted 11th New Jersey Infantry, served through the Civil War, wounded at Gettysburg. Re-enlisted and was sent to Fort Gibson, Indian Territory Met and married LOUISA MAY THOMPSON, Cherokee Children: MARY, HENRY and MAUD. I am told that, after the marriage, he went "back east" to see his family, returned and never spoke of them again. He lived in Indian Territory until 1894 when he kllled himself with a shot to his head. He is my greatgreatgrandfather. That is absolutely all I can find on him and I've been looking for 20 years. Hopefully, the connection through the 11th New Jersey Infantry will yield some information.
