While we are talking about orphans, etc. I have asked this question before and thought I'd try again. No one has ever given me an answer ( ie knows what it is.) I have several collateral relatives in the 1900 census that have children with them listed in the relationship to head of household as "Taken Child" Has anyone else ever run across this or know what that meant?
