Hi, The Buttonwood Tavern was owned by the Wills family and was still in operation at least up to 1850. The census of 1850: George Wills 41 Mary 41 wife William Hy 16 Aaron 16 George 14 James 12 Moses 10 Mary Ann 8 Amos 6 Martha Jane 4 John 2 This was in Crowleytown There was a Robbie Wills b. 1891 who lived in the old tavern building. Also in the town of Friendship is where Joseph Evans and Lydia E. Wills, daug. of Henry and Lydia.. Henry owned 1200 acres in partnership with his brothers John and Joseph. It was near Washington Township. Cranberries grew wild there. Evens and his wife's brother Joshua started cultivating cranberries. The 2 guy's built many bogs, they also built a packing house, homes, school and a store. Joseph Evens died in 1909 and Joshua Wills continued to produce cranberries and died in 1934.
