    1. [NJBurlin] 1709 Northampton Census/3
    2. Donna E. Ristenbatt
    3. This is Part 3 of the 1709 Northampton Twp. Census. This section includes families which my late aunt did not note, only the number of children. I have been able to check will abstracts, however, and believe I have the correct families, based on info which my aunt did give. I would like to respectfully suggest that if anyone has items to add about these families, that they post the comments to the list, rather than to me. The only families which are mine are the LAMB and BUDD families (So far at least! One never knows further on down the road of genealogical research! :)) I am sure that if anyone has ancestors from these families, that they would greatly appreciate your additional comments. WOOLMAN: John, age 54 Elizabeth, age 54 (My aunt has 5 children noted in 1709) From John WOOLMAN's will abstract, written 26 March 1711, proved 30 April 1718: John WOOLMAN of Northampton Twp.; Wife, Elizabeth; Children: Samuel, Elizabeth, Mary, Ann, Hannah and Hesther. [Donna note: Apparently one extra child since 1709. I have noted, too, that some people think because there is an Ann, that there could not be a Hannah in a family. This is not the case. Also, a John WOOLMAN married an Elizabeth BOURTON in 1686 according to Burlington County Marriages.] WILLS: John, age 48 Hope, age 44 (My aunt has noted there were 9 children, ages 19-3 on the 1709 census.) Based on the will abstracts, I could not find the proper John. There was a John WILLS who married a Hope DELEFOSS in 1682. There is a will for an 86 year old John WILLS in 1745, but he was married to an Elizabeth, and there is a John WILLS who married an Elizabeth FRAMPTON in 1701. There was another 1714 will for a John WILLS who was married to an Elizabeth. It is possible that the John WILLS married to the Elizabeth in 1745 had married her as a second wife, but could not be certain. WILLS: Daniel, age 50 Mary, age 40 (Aunt has 7 children, ages 17-5 on 1709 census) Here is *possible* will. There were many Daniel WILLS, and no wife mentioned in this one, but 7 children. Written 25 Jan. 1727/1728. Proved 1 February 1727/1728. Daniel WILLS of Northampton Twp. Children: Daniel, Joseph, James, Elizabeth, Ann, Margett and Hannah, plus son-in-law or step-son, Levi SHINN. This Daniel was of Northampton Twp., but one of his bequests was a home farm of 160 acres in Hunterdon Co, which is worthy of note. CRIPPS: Nathaniel, age 42 Grace, age 35 John, age 5 To be continued. Regards, Donna Ristenbatt ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DRistenbatt@dejazzd.com
