This Joseph LAMB Sr. is the son of Jacob and Ann LAMB, the progenitors. Oh that all wills were this thorough!! :) My line is Nehemiah LAMB and Samuel LAMB, his son. One question. If anyone knows anything about the Samuel ROSSELL mentioned in this will, I would appreciate hearing from you. He *may* hold the key to the parents of my Hannah ROSSELL, born ca 1816, via a son of Samuel ROSSELL. Will Abstract of Joseph LAMB Sr.[Donna note: This is my abstract, not my aunt's.] Burlington County Wills #11550C. Liber 33, page 468, etc. 1st- Written 15 Oct. 1792; Joseph LAMB of New Hanover Twp., County of Burlington, Western Division of State of New Jersey, Yeoman. 2nd- I give and reommend my Soul into the Hands of God Almighty that gave it to me, etc. Imprimis - Just debts and funeral expenses to be paid by my Executors. Item- To my grandson, Samuel LAMB, son of my son Nehemiah LAMB, deceased. - All that plantation which I purchased of James DAVIS- situate in New Hanover Twp.- about 70 acres. Also, another piece of land which I purchased of trustees of Robert SMITH with other lands and part of John BOWKER's.[Boundaries given, Benjamin JONES mentioned]; This land along with part of Cedar Swamp which I purchased of John SHERMAN, dec'd., lying at the head of Job LIPPINCOTT's Old Swamp. My grandson, Samuel LAMB is to pay the sum of £30 to his sisters (each getting £10), namely, Mary, Rebeckah, and Charlotte. Samuel to get the rents and profits of said land when he is 19 years old. Sisters to get money when they are 21 years old. Item - To my grandson, Ezaas LAMB, son of my son Nehemiah LAMB, dec'd., - all the remainder of that my plantation that I purchased of the Trustees of Robert SMITH whereon my son Nehemiah LAMB formerly lived. Also the remainder of land I purchased of John BOWKER that joins the aforesaid land, that I purchased of the trustees of Robert SMITH. Also, another piece of land that I located and laid a proprietor's right thereon joining the aforesaid land and also the one half part of the Cedar Swamp that I purchased of John SHERMAN, lying at the Head of Job LIPPINCOTT's Old Swamp. To receive land when he is 21. He is also to pay his sisters £10 each when they arrive at age 21. - that is Mary, Rebeckah and Charlotte. Ezaas to receive rents and profits of said land when age 19. If any of the aforementioned should die before 21, then all to be equally divided amongst the survivors. Item- To my son, Jacob LAMB - all my plantation in the township of Springfield, whereon he now lives, that I purchased of Joseph WRIGHT in the township of New Hanover., except a part which I give to my son Joseph LAMB.. Also a piece of Cedar Swamp lying on one of the branches of Wading River called Shoul Branch, that I purchased of Edward PANCOAST lying between lot of late George CROSHAWS(sp?) and a lot of Thomas GASKILL's. Item- To my son, Joseph LAMB - part of plantation that I purchased of Joseph WRIGHT (by road that leads to Egg Harbour) and standing before the door of the house of the late Samuel ROSSELL in Scrabletown, to land along a fence which I purchased of John BOWKER, and then to land of the late John MONROW and of Thomas EARL's.- about 20 acres in all. Also to Joseph LAMB, the plantation where he and I now live. Item- To my six grandchildren, children of my Daughter, Anne NEWBOLD, namely Barzillai, Joseph, Michael, Margaret, Sarah and Beaulah, the sum of £20 each, to be paid 6 months after my death. Item- To my daughter-in-law, Lettis LAMB (widow of Nehemiah LAMB) and now Lettis RENEER - £10- to be paid 6 months after my death. Item - To my two daughters, Rebeckah SHREVE and Elizabeth NUTT (Donna note: Elizabeth was first married to Joesph POPE.) - all the remainder of my personal estate.
