Donna- You're correct, all five children of Jacob Lamb (1756-1826) were by his first wife, Elizabeth (Shinn) (1758-1790). The two genealogies you mention are: Josiah Hazen Shinn, The History of the Shinn Family in Europe and America, (The Genealogical and Historical Publishing Company, Chicago, 1903) Gertrude N. Brick & Thurman Ridgway, Ridgways U.S.A., (Baltimore, Gateway Press, 1980) I also have photocopies of pages (poor quality) of family records from the Bible of Beulah (Ridgway) Lamb, Jacob's 2nd wife. I'm attempting to get the original Bible which is in my family. Elizabeth (Ridgway) Lamb, w/o Clayton, and Susanna/Ann (Ridgway) Lamb, w/o Jacob, Jr., were the daughters of Lott Ridgway (1757-1791) and his wife Deborah (Johnson). Lott's sister was Beulah, Jacob's 2nd wife (i.e, her stepsons married her nieces). I descend from Clayton and Elizabeth (by granddaughter Adelaide - my gg-grandmother). Adelaide's husband was Restore Biddle Lamb, s/o Restore Shinn Lamb, s/o Jacob. Adelaide and her husband Restore were 1st cousins, once removed (maybe that explains why I have this twitch?). I'm enclosing descendent tree that hopefully might clarify this. -- Malcolm Schalick Sharp http://sharp.rootsweb.com/ -- encl: Descendants of Jacob Lamb 1 Jacob Lamb September 7, 1756 October 11, 1826 +Elizabeth Shinn October 6, 1758 April 9, 1790 2 Clayton Lamb April 10, 1777 +Elizabeth Ridgway September 23, 1787 3 Jacob Lamb +Margaret Watkinson Abt. 1810 4 [2] Adelaide Lamb March 27, 1833 Abt. 1884 +[1] Restore Biddle Lamb February 21, 1830 November 14, 1915 3 Elizabeth Lamb +Daniel Budd Bodine 3 Clayton Lamb +__ Lawrence 2 Joseph Lamb July 13, 1780 May 20, 1823 2 Rebecca Lamb April 28, 1782 +Abraham Merritt 3 Sarah Taylor Merritt June 1, 1803 +Taunton Earl Shreve February 23, 1802 *2nd Husband of Sarah Taylor Merritt: +William Imley Newbold *3rd Husband of Sarah Taylor Merritt: +Samuel Ellis *4th Husband of Sarah Taylor Merritt: +William H. My understanding is that all children belong to Elizabeth SHINN. I have noted that there are two different genealogies, one a SHINN and one a RIDGWAY genealogy and one has *son* Jacob married to Susanna RIDGWAY and one to Ann RIDGWAY. The WILL has son, Jacob, married to Ann -?-. I have Ann MERRITT. Any clarification with good documentation welcomed. To further clarify, the Jacob of this will is the SON of Joseph LAMB Sr., whose will abstract I will do next. NOTE: I have listed another son, Joseph LAMB, who died in 1823, 3 years before this will.
