    1. [NJBurlin] Re: 1860 Census/Elizabeth LAMB

    3. Donna, The dwelling next to this "MURRET" was Restore Biddle Lamb (dwelling #1468) and his wife Adelaide (Lamb) - they were also 1st cousins once removed and my gg-grandparents. Merritt was used as a given and middle name in my family. I believe the census record has the surname incorrect (isn't that a surprise!) and it should be MERRITT. A Jacob Merritt (no dates) I have is the son of Abraham Merritt and Rebecca (Lamb), m: January 1802. Rebecca was Restore Biddle Lamb's aunt so Jacob and Restore were 1st cousins. I show that Jacob was married to Rachel Woolston (no dates). Another of Jacob's cousins was Elizabeth Lamb (no dates), daughter of Clayton Lamb and Elizabeth (Ridgway), m: March 27, 1810. I show Elizabeth's husband as Daniel Budd Bodine (no dates). Clayton was the brother of Restore and Rebecca. (For those who need to work in the right hemisphere I'm enclosing a family tree.) So perhaps Rachel (Woolston) Merritt died before 1860 and left Jacob with two children and he had his cousin Elizabeth Lamb - who was not yet married - live there to take care of the children. ?? Of course having a few dates would help! -- Malcolm Schalick Sharp http://sharp.rootsweb.com/ -- encl: 1 Jacob Lamb b: September 7, 1756 d: October 11, 1826 in Springfield Twp., Burlington Co., NJ +Elizabeth Shinn b: October 6, 1758 in Mt.
