    1. [NJBurlin] more FENIMORE questions and PRICE
    2. Hello, I found in Burlington City 1870 census, page 132: 157 153 FENNIMORE, Joseph age 72 (widower of Elizabeth CATHCART) FENNIMORE, Josephine age 14 PRICE, James age 33 PRICE, Mary 32 PRICE, Charles 13 right next door: 158 FENNIMORE, George age 35 (son of Joseph and Elizabeth listed above) FENNIMORE, Elizabeth age 34 FENNIMORE, Charles age 12 It is likely that Mary PRICE was Mary FENIMORE before marriage. Is anyone researching any of these families? Thank you. Kathy Karn

    3. On this list, the William MERDICK (1485/1494) should be William MURDOCK and wife Ann LAMB. (She was the daughter of Samuel LAMB and Nancy/Ann STARKEY.) Does anyone know William's father's name? Apparently the Elizabeth MURDOCK living with them was probably William's mother. We swam there a while back too! The Oswego River is actually the East Branch of the Wading River. Martha Pond which was the pond for the furnace at Martha, is on the east branch of the Wading or Oswego River. So it makes sense that Martha Furnace would have been referred to as Oswego Land. Here's an interesting link on a short history of Martha. Some interesting names in there as well that may be helpful to others... http://www.torreybotanical.com/njoptofc/marthafr.html Regards, Rosana Martha Furnace names that I am researching are Mick, DeVinney, Couch. 2. Dear Malcolm, Your message to me came back as such... > Jacob Merritt b. 5 Jan 1813 d. 24 April 1896 > Rachel Woolston b. 1816 d. 1852 Your source(s)? -- Malcolm Schalick Sharp http://sharp.rootsweb.com/ You might want to review the Revised Merritt Records by Douglass Merritt. It is filled with inaccuracies, but also has some good records. I have sorted out the unidentified Merritts and corrected what I could of the Isaac/Marriot mess. It's the source of Jacob's birth date. You might also like to check the 1850 federal census for Burlington, NJ. You will find Jacob there along with Rachel, Mary and Rebecca (and their ages). There are other members of his household listed also. The family of Benjamin R. Lamb is two doors away and immediately next door is the family of Clayton Lamb which includes Rebecca Merritt, aged 30. I hope this is of some use to you. I have researched the Merrit family of Burlington, NJ, extensively fand or a very long time. I wrote to you in answer to a query you posted once a long time ago on the roots message board. I'm sorry I can't give you my source for Rachel's death date right now. The source is in my hard files which for the Merritt family take up one entire filing drawer all by themselves. I hope this little bit is of some use to you. Georgia Whitson
