    1. [NJBurlin] Kirby mill, Medford
    2. kirby heard
    3. yesterday I began sorting all my papers [yikes!] and discovered an article a lister had sent me several years back, about a festival in Medford, held at the Kirby Mill. anyone researching this line that can give me some background? I'd love to chat off-list about the family. my KIRBYs are firmly established in Monmouth co by 1797 but I don't think they 'originated' there; I know there are families in B'ton co but haven't found connections yet to mine. I'm interested in knowing about the mill; its origin, owners, history, lineage, etc. I've been at a dead end on this line, and while I'm not grasping at straws on *this one*, I do enjoy learning the history. thanks for any help! kirby in NC kirbz@northstate.net The only normal people are those you don't know very well. -- Oscar Wilde searching LUNAN and ANDERSON in SCT; JONES, MELL and HEARD in GA; KIRBY, GASTON and BRITTON in NJ* *and BENNETT, CHAMBERLAIN, CLAYTON, MOUNT & others...

    1. [NJBurlin] Will #4 - Restore Shinn LAMB
    2. Donna E. Ristenbatt
    3. This is Will #4 Abstract, as done by my late aunt, Laura E. Rogers (1899-1973). I should mention that the wills so far are not my direct line. Those wills I will have to abstract myself, when I have time. The Restore Shinn LAMB mentioned in this will abstract is the son of Jacob LAMB and Elizabeth SHINN. Jacob was married second to Beulah RIDGWAY, whose will was #1. I have Jacob's will in its entirety and will have to abstract that one as well. Jacob was a son of Joseph LAMB Sr. and Rebecca BUDD. The LAMB family was one of the early families of Burlington County, New Jersey and the earliest deed I have is of the immigrant , also named Jacob LAMB, married to Ann -?-), in the year 1699 when Jacob LAMB bought land of Robert POWELL in Northampton Twp. The LAMBs were English Quakers. Jacob and Ann had children: Mary, Ann, Jacob, Margret, John and Joseph SR. Will of Restore S. LAMB. (His first wife was Mary RIDGWAY and the children in this will were hers. His second wife was Rhoda OSBORN.) Burlington County Wills #17300C. Written: 1 April 1864, Restore of Mt. Holly, Burlington Co.,NJ "Wife - Rhoda O. LAMB - $400 a year *4 Grandsons - Howard WHITE, Joseph J. WHITE, George F. WHITE, Barclay M. WHITE - children of my beloved daughter, Rebecca M. WHITE who is deceased-- cedar swamp from John CHAMBERS. *Sons - Benjamin R. LAMB and Restore B. LAMB. - who are also Executors Witnesses- Abraham MERRITT, James LIPPINCOTT Proved: 28 August 1867, Chas. E. FOLWELL - Surrogate Inventory: 23 August 1867- $12,887.86 My late aunt has a note that Rhoda Osborn LAMB died 5th mo., 19 da., 1880. She did not note what Quaker MM this was from, but I would assume that it would be whatever MM was in connection with Mt. Holly. I believe I have a note that Rhoda and her husband were Hicksite ministers. Donna Ristenbatt DRistenbatt@aol.com

My family story was that between marriages Joseph lived with a Lenape Indian woman who was the mother of his four children. One of which was my g.grandfather John Chambers Stackhouse b.1832 and his sister Josephine b 1836. This has been hard to prove. John would always put Elizabeth Branning and Josephine left out mothers name on marriage records and her grandmothers name was on death cert. Can any one help. Gail

    2. Is anyone on this list researching the GIBBS family in New Jersey? I am looking for the parents of Mahlon GIBBS. He was born 31 Aug.1793 in Burlington Co., NJ and died 1 Jan 1872 in Preble Co.OH. I think that he is the son of Richard GIBBS, born abt. 1778, Mansfield Twp. Burlington Co.NJ and died 24 Nov 1819 in the same place and his wife Mary ( have no last name). Mahlon married prior to 1825 to Julia Ann BRITTAIN in New Jersey. Richard's father was also Richard GIBBS, born 1740, Mansfield Twp.Burlington Co.NJ, died 13 Jan 1804, Burlington Co. NJ and his wife Mary Burroughs. This Richard's father was John GIBBS, born 6 Apr 1706, died 5 Jun 1785 and his wife Hannah Lucas. The ancestors of both Malon GIBBS and his wife Julia Ann BRITTAIN were Quakers but do not know if Mahlon was a practicing Quaker either in NJ or after moving to Ohio in 1830. I have no proof that Mahlon is the son of Richard and Mary - he was listed as a son in someone's family history. I know he was related to, or accociated with, the Newbold, Reading and Beck families because of the names given his children. Can anyone give me some help in establlishing the parents of Mahlon GIBBS, my gr gr gr grandfather. Betty McCollum Padilla
