The Burlington County Genealogy Club meets the first friday of every month at the Corson Poley Center on Lawrence Street in Burlington. The library will be open from 6pm to 9pm. The meeting will begin at 7pm. There is usually time after the meeting to do additional research in the library, and plenty of helpful experts on-hand. The May meeting will be this Friday, May 4th. The speaker will be Sasha Harding, who will discuss the Burlington Bristol Bridge and other topics. If you need more details or directions, please contact Ricki Lucas at <RLucas916@aol.com>. Michael Gilbert <NJBURLIN-ADMIN@RootsWeb.com>
Are there any obituary indexes available at Burlington Library? I am interested in 1869 and 1895. Thanks Ed Austin
THERE WILL BE A BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN POSTINGS WHILE I TRAVEL FROM SOUTH TO NORTH. SEE YOU NEXT WEEK. THANKS FOR YOUR NOTES OF ENCOURAGEMENT. MaisieAnn@aol.com

Listmembers, I am involved in a 12+ years project to locate and document all Civil War soldiers buried in New Jersey cemeteries. The following list of "mystery" soldiers were affiliated in some way with this county and whose burial places I am trying to find. They may or may not be buried in this county, but I'd like to know where they are buried regardless, so I can remove them from my lists. The dates of death and the name spellings are as found. I've also included any aliases if known. Please contact me if you know where any of these soldiers are buried. "Unk means unknown DoD. > Could any one help me find location of the Baptist cemetery in Mount Holly, > Methodist cemetery in Pemberton & Episcopal cemetery in Juliustown or how I > could locate their records. Thank Gail Baptist Cemetery, Mt. Holly - Located on Pine St., I believe it's just referred to as St. Andrew's Cemetery today. There are 3 cemeteries on the grounds - St. Andrews Episcopal, Trinity Episcopal & the Baptist Cemetery. Other Mt. Holly cemeteries are - Mt. Holly Cemetery on Ridgway St., Woodlane Cemetery on Woodlane Rd. & the Friend's Burying Ground at the corner of High St. & Garden St. Near the Friend's Burying Ground is the site of the old Presbyterian Cemetery which no longer exists, everyone was supposed to have been reinterred at the Friend's Burying Ground in 1838. Pemberton - Methodist Cemetery is located on Hanover & Egbert St. Other Pemberton Cemeteries are - Baptist Cemetery on Rt. 38. & the Odd Fellows Cemetery is off of Egbert St. I think there is also a Potter's Field across the street from the Baptist Cemetery behind some houses. I can't remember for sure since it's been a number of years since I was there. There is also a Potter's Field along Rt. 530 on the way to Browns Mills but not sure if this is Pemberton or Browns Mills area. Juliustown Methodist - I believe is along Rt. 669 in Springfield Twp. Most likely was Methodist Episcopal. I've never had a problem going to any of these cemeteries but would suggest that women do not go alone to the Pemberton Baptist Cemetery. The last two times I was there, there were 2 to 3 men living in different tall bushes and very well hidden. Keep your eye out for the slightest bit of trash around any of the big bushes. It's probably safe to be there but just wanted to warn you so you don't jump out of your skin when you hear a sneeze and there is no one else around. -- Doris

Looking for descendents of one Thomas Kirby of New Hanover Twp., Burlington Co., New Jersey. Thomas, born, in all probability, between 1730-35 married a Rachel Hance in 1759. The Hance family were Quaker and lived in Shrewsbury, New Jersey and were members of the Shrewsbury MM. Thomas and his immediate family, to include his father, Benjamin, were also Quaker and were members of the Chesterfield MM. I have the names of four children, two of which I have confirmed independently. There were obviously more children as there are large gaps between the births. Film from Salt Lake appears incomplete. Any input would be appreciated. Thank You, Erwin Kirby of Grants Pass, Oregon.
A while back I mentioned a couple of articles but didn't have the sources, here they are. The article about John Wills journal is from National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Vol. 42, #2, June 1954. The article about Lydia Wright and her sisters is from Proceedings of the New Jersey Historical Society, April, 1940, the correct title is "Lydia Wright and Her Sister:.l.Three Quaker Maidens Who Defied the Stern Puritans" I'm still working on the 1709 census of Northampton Twp., Burlington County.
