Hello, I am doing this but I am not sure this is the proper way to handle this so please be patient with me. In the last week I have been picking up e-mail that look like regular e-mail from from the different counties in NJ. When I attempted to open the email my computer picked up a virus. One letter did not even describe who the letter was from. Please be careful when opening an e-mail. It's sad some people have to be so malicious and attack this wonderful wonderful service. If I am out of line doing it this way I am truly sorry. This was my first encounter with a computer virus. Sincerely, Mrs. Robin M. Stinson

Thanks for responding, Debbie. I don't have those names in my files, however I don't reject them as not being related. Just don't know. My LEWIS family moved from Monmouth Co NJ to Shelby Co OH between 1835 and 1839. They were all there, along with inlaws and siblings, until all but brother Samuel disappeared between 1866 and 1870. As a long shot I checked the 1870 NJ census and lo and behold, I found my Aaron LEWIS's brother William H. in Ocean Co NJ. He had been in OH for at least 20 years. Since he now owned $4,000 real estate as compared to $0 in OH, I suspect his wife Ellen BOSETH probably inherited the farm and back they came to NJ. Now I'm trying to figure out if the whole family might have returned to NJ. Brother Sam mentioned above was born abt 1808 in NJ. He was still in OH in 1870. The only children I have listed for him are a son Samuel Firman LEWIS b 1837 in NJ and dau Elenor LEWIS, b 1839 in OH. The line for the Aaron LEWIS I am looking for is: Aaron born 1814, Monmouth Co, m Ellen/Elenor VOORHEES, in Monmouth, 1835. Joel Lewis born 1782, Monmouth, m Ann La(y)ton, b 1789 in Monmouth 1806. David Lewis b abt 1756 Shrewesbury, Monmouth m Mary Patterson, b 1761 Mary's line goes back to the famous scalping victim, Penelope Stout.. Hello, I just received the death certificate of Martha (Vandegrift) HULLINGS--her middle name is listed as LIPPINCOTT. She was born in 1852 in the Bridgeboro area to Daniel VANDEGRIFT and Mary APPLEGATE. Another daughter was Mary HEATON VANDEGRIFT. I have the lineage for Daniel who was born in NJ in 1813--no Lippincotts or Heatons anywhere. Mary APPLEGATE was born in NJ in 1822--I have not been able to prove parents or siblings for her. I know its possible Mary and Martha were given their middle names to honor friends of the family but the other children were definitely named for family members. I'm hoping someone might show a possible APPLEGATE connection to these girl's middle names. Thank you. Kathy Karn
Applegate is one of my collateral lines. I searched my copy of "The Applegate Family in America", compiled by Hugh E. Voress, and didn't find any mention of either VANDEGRIFT or LIPPINCOTT. Hi Listers: "Family tradition" tells me that my 4X grandfather married an "Indian princess" in Burlington County about 1791. Although I know her name and dates of birth and death I know nothing about her parents. Can anyone advise a course of action to check out this possible Indian connection? Thanks for any help. Judy
