    2. USGW Project NJSC
    3. Hello New Jersey Researchers, Yesterday, I met with a member of the web development team for the New Jersey Historical Society. We discussed content for the upcoming NJHS web site. Among items discussed were: 1. A complete listing of their holdings. 2. Mail in lookup requests. 3. On line maps of early New Jersey, counties and towns. 4. The history of the organization. 5. Their hours of operation. 6. Directions to the Society 7. Membership in the Society 8. Hotel accommodations near the Society for visitors. 9. Mass transit facilities for visitors. 10. Parking facilities for visitors. 11. Restaurant facilities for visitors. 12. Events sponsored by the Society 13. A form to preorder documents for viewing that are not on site. 14. Posting of photos of New Jersey 15. Links to other libraries that have additional or complimentary information. 16. What to expect from a visit to the Society. 17. On line store. 18. On site research fees for mail in research (for research, not just a lookup) 19. Putting their cemetery holdings on line. 20. User imputed databases. 21. User query system that will be answered by staff members or other visitors. 22. User discussion area. 23. Search engine that will search the entire site, including User sections and holdings. 24. Asking for volunteers to put NJHS data on line, such as the cemetery lists, rosters. 25. A Section that tells what information they have that is unique to the NJHS. 26. Web site forms for various uses, including research requests. 27. User suggestion area. 28. A "How-To Research" guide 29. Turnaround time for lookups and research requests. When I asked who the web site would be aimed at, I was told History Buffs, Education Systems and Genealogists. I replied that I hoped that it wasn't in that order and that I would estimate that at least 90% of the web site visitors would be Genealogists doing research. I also stressed that Lookup Requests and Research Requests would skyrocket and that they should be prepared for that. The last item that I stressed was the NJHS experience for visitors. Visitors should know before arriving: 1. How to get to the NJHS easily. 2. Where they can park, have lunch. 3. Have a 'game plan' of what they can do and how to do it before they enter the site so visitors/researchers can maximize their time with research and not with learning the system. 4. Be able to 'order' off site documents prior to their arrival so these documents will be ready for immediate research. I don't know what the final web site will include but the initial web site should be on line by the end of the year. Thank You, Glenn G. Geisheimer <germanic42@home.com> NJ State Coordinator USGenWeb Project <http://www.rootsweb.com/~njgenweb/index.html>

    2. Hello Bill, Lydia PERRINE was Andrew Applegate's first wife. He married Elizabeth PEW in 1803. Elizabeth was born in 1786 so she could have had a child in 1831. In 1804 , their first child Lydia APPLEGATE was born. There are several children documented up to 1817 through baptismal records at the Cranbury First Presbyterian Church for Andrew APPLEGATE and Elzabeth PEW. I also have Andrew's Rev. War Pension File which documents his marriage to Elizabeth. Elizabeth lived with her daughter Gertrude Bodine APPLEGATE HAINES till her death. Other children found (so far) in Burlington County include Lydia born 1804 who married Richard LONGSTREET anf John P. ATKINSON--she lived in Burlington City. Aniother daughter Abigail married a LITTLE and settled in the Bridgebotro area. Hope this helps. Kathy Karn

    1. Re: [NJBurlin] Minnie Gertrude Haines
    2. I am interested in Gertrude and family as well. I am trying to find descendents of Gertrude APPLEGATE and Robert HAINES to see if the APPLEGATE family Bible mentioned in the Rev War Pension Files of Andrew APPLEGATE still exists. Andrew's widow Elizabeth lived with Gertrude's family till her death May 14 1869. There is an error in the APPLEGATE info in the Voress database online--Gertrude was born in 1831, not 1821. The last proven child before Gertrude was Spafford Woodhull APPLEGATE born 1817. I am trying to see if I can find any children born to Andrew APPLEGATE and Elzabeth PEW between 1817-1831. My third great grandmother Mary APPLEGATE was born in 1822, I believe she may be a daughter. I am also looking at an Edward APPLEGATE born circa 1820 as a possible son. Kathy Karn

    3. In Burlington County in 1738, John Woolston married Hannah Tencher, daughter of Francis, deceased. I have been unable to find any Tenchers lving in New Jersey. I find a Hannah born to Joanna Tencher in Philadelphia in 1717. I also find a Francis Fincher in Philadelphia and later in Hopewell Quaker MM. Could anyone tell me if these are the same people. The original marriage license looks like a capial T but were T and F s that different??? -----

Andrew served under his 1st wife's brother, Capt. Peter Perrine, during the Revolutionary War. He served an aggregate of at least a year, beginning in 1776 and continuing until about 1780, serving about a month at a time. Andrew's will, dated Apr. 25, 1836, left his property to his wife and appointed his son, Fenwick as executor. He stated that should she leave any monies at her decease, this should go to equally to the children that are then living. After Andrew's death, Elizabeth moved to Burlington Co., NJ where in 1850 she is listed as Elizabeth Applegate, 66, with assets $1500, with Gertrude Applegate, 18 [sic] and Mary Randolph living with her. In 1860, Elizabeth Applegate, 75, was living with her daughter and son-in-law, Robert W. Haines, 30, a carpenter. Andrew Applegate had 17 children. Gertrude was his last.
