    1. [NJBurlin] I'm Back....
    2. Hello list, yes, it's me Scoutmom5. still on my quest for the ever so confusing Schemelia/Shemelia/Shemeley and so on... but now I'm turning my directions to the Warren side of my wall. I'm looking for George Warren, b. abt. 1795 in PA. according to the 1850-1860 census.05, August 1850.. Mt Holly, Northampton Twp, Burlington County p. 418, dwelling; 376, family 397. George S. Warren, was a boatman, Hannah Warren b. 1815, could either be Pool or Austin. When I was in the Burl. Co. library a year ago, I looked in the marriage index cards there and found two possibles. and never was able to get back and search more. I'm guessing the marriage to be between 1840-1841, since there first child Susanna E. Warren was born in 1842. Anyway, here are the rest of the children of George and Hannah Warren 1) Susanna E. Warren b. 1842 in NJ d. 13 Feb. 1872 of hild Bed Fever. married Peter Wing abt. 1860. Peter was b. 20, Dec 1835 in New Lisbon, Otsego County, NY. .He was a Harnessmaker, and served as a Private in Co. I, 23rd Regt. NJ Inf. Enlisted in Mt. Holly, 13 Sept. 1862.By Captain John Burnett. He was discharged at White Oaks Church, VA. 12, March 1863. Colonel Henry O. Ryerson, commanding the post. He was injured during Burnsides Mudmarch. After the death of Susanna, Peter married Elizabeth (Hoff) Schemelia. Who was his daughter Rebecca's widowed Mother-in-law. ( my own lines intermingle, again the Schemelia's...Have no clue about Elizabeth Hoff's family, one headache at a time.) Peter died 07, Sept. 1894. On his death certificate it lists Ohio as place of birth, this is inncorrect. 2) Mary E. Warren b. 1844 3) George R. Warren b. 1845 4) Daniel G. Warren b. 1848 5) Isaac Warren b. 1850 Anyone out there with hair left, can help me with my Warrens, I'll e-mail you asprin. Okay another fly in the ointment: are there any Hoff/ Butterworth connections out there, for some reason, some of my Schemelia's have Butterworth as a middle name, unless they really liked pancake syrup. Thanks Again, Lora

    3. Hi Ed, I can answer part of your question. The draft actually started in 1863, I believe, and the ages were 18-45. 3. Hi, Folks... One of the biggest boons to the list, of course, has been Maisie's 1860 census. A marvelous provision, and a considerate thing on her part. To date, for me, no one has been in there, but I know a good thing when I see one, and can appreciate it, even though I do not benefit --- so far! There *is* a remote possibility that either this database, or another one of you may possess could help me unlock a secret to me... I show: James Austin FITZGERALD, b. May 31, 1816 in (probably PA), d. bef. 1859 in Leonardo Station, near Woodbury, New Jersey. He had married Elizabeth LONG -- totally unknown to me! Now if she survived him, she would be in, almost surely, a Burlington County Census for 1860 ***unless*** her husband did not live nearby, or she just decided she could not live in the home her husband lived in at his death, or any other of such circumstances. Questions: 1. Can you tell me about Leonardo Station? 2. Do any of you have any reference to an Elizabeth FITZGERALD? 3. Would she have been in the Burlington City Census that Maisie posts? 4. If not, do any of you have access to a census wherein she *would* be listed? Thanks, Vince Summers

    1. [NJBurlin] website move, etc.
    2. Well, I would like to thank all of you who have offered to do some transcribing, it will help immensely. For now, however, I have been trying to get the site moved to the new domain. IN doing so, I found out that right now, the site is 106 pages. WOW!!!. I am going to the TX coast for vacation this week, starting tomorrow. Getting away from work with my hubby. No kids, no computers, just sand, surf and sun. When I get back, I will answer the ton of emails backing up in my account and sorting the material I'll be sending out to various volunteers for transcribing. Soon then, I bet the site will grow significantly. Thank you all for your patience during this transition. Take care, "See ya" next week Diane DeMore Burlington County Website Co-ordinator -------------------

    3. Folks, This Ancestral Findings site which has been mentioned by Bill & Terri over the past day is one which you might want to avoid. The site doesn't seem to provide any original content, and instead provides "click-throughs" to other sites which provide the content. Its only purpose seems to be to get eyeballs to their advertisements, and to get people to subscribe to Ancestry with some kickback going to the site owner. It's not as evil as the Family Discovery website, which actually charges you money to look at data that you can get elsewhere for free, but it is a web site a intend to avoid. Finally, discussion of "neat sites" doesn't really belong on the list, unless the site has some content specific to Burlington County which might be of interest.
