Can you tell me what cemeteries would be candidates for someone who died in Riverton? Maybe I can find interment records. Helen was probably married to Charles BEGLEY who died, same location, Oct 1981. Thanks for any assistance. Hi, The Buttonwood Tavern was owned by the Wills family and was still in operation at least up to 1850. The census of 1850: George Wills 41 Mary 41 wife William Hy 16 Aaron 16 George 14 James 12 Moses 10 Mary Ann 8 Amos 6 Martha Jane 4 John 2 This was in Crowleytown There was a Robbie Wills b. 1891 who lived in the old tavern building. Also in the town of Friendship is where Joseph Evans and Lydia E. Wills, daug. of Henry and Lydia.. Henry owned 1200 acres in partnership with his brothers John and Joseph. It was near Washington Township. Cranberries grew wild there. Evens and his wife's brother Joshua started cultivating cranberries. The 2 guy's built many bogs, they also built a packing house, homes, school and a store. Joseph Evens died in 1909 and Joshua Wills continued to produce cranberries and died in 1934. This comes from the book "Heart of the Pines" Hope it helps Paula
Hi again, I was reading more on the Wills and found Zebedee Wills deeded the Mount Tavern site on Tuckerton Rd. between Washington and Quaker Bridge to Jonathan Cramer on 3/27/1839, for 900.00 Cramer built the tavern. Also the is a single grave near the site of Eagle Hotel with the name of Charles Wills a child who died 1848. There was a cemetery there but a fire charred the headstones and the state replaced them with pine markers. They rotted away. This is all in Burlington Co. near Lower Bank. Paula

Is there anyone on the list who lives in Burlington Co and can look up some information for me at the court house in Mt Holly? If so, I will sent you my e-mail address. Appreciate the assist. Love the info I have gotten from this site. My Van Kirks come from Beverly and Burlington City. Ginnie
Thanks to Susan, Ellen and Jim and especially to Gail who found ALLof my Ggmom's siblings and HER PARENTS still in Shamong Twp on the 1880 census.!!!! I still need to connect to the parents of GEORGE WILLS b. 1806 in probably Shamong Twp [or near] NJ. Wonder if anyone on the list is researching THIS Wills family. I have removed the descendants of daughters who would not have had WILLS surnames. Some of these men are the right age to be fathers or brothers of my George W. b. 1806. Just a thought. Jim, I too give you a big thank you. Living in central Illinois, and unable to even get to the nearby libraries, I rely heavily on the net for all of my research these days. I have barely begun with the common names between my family and yours. The only Stokes I was aware tied to my family lines was Deliverance who married Darling Conarroe/Conrow. After seeing some of the other names popping up in your index, I suspect I may find a few more! I descend from the Talberts, Parkers, Antrims, Conarroes, Hancocks, and lonely Jonathan Larkin of Burlington Co. I do wish I could find when Jonathan and/or his father John arrived in Burlington. Jonathan's daughter Prudence was reported in a biographical listing in the 1800s as saying that her grandfather John was the first in the country and was born in Ireland. She could have been more garrulous and I wouldn't have minded a bit! Cilla Larkin --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Hello, I just found another descendent of Andrew APPLEGATE and Elizabeth PEW in Burlington. Any info on Ellen--her children and siblings appreciated. Ellen Maria CLINTON born September 29, 1842 in Hightstown to James CLINTON and Tamsen APPLEGATE. Tamsen was the daughter of Andrew APPLEGATE and Elizabeth PEW. Ellen married before 1860 to William TOMKIN. They are listed in the Burlington census for that year. At the time of her death October 31, 1925, she was listed as the widow of George GILLIS. George is also in the 1860 census in Burlington with his first wife Mary A. Thank you. Kathy Karn
Jim Many thanks for the resource.... I can't imagine anyone on the Burlington NJ list who won't find SOME connections here. My great grandmom was Martha Jane WILLS [b.1845/46] d/o George WILLS [b.abt 1809] and Mary DILLET [Delett?] of Shamong Twp Burlington, but even with all those WILLS up there I can't YET connect him to a father and mother. I have a hunch his folks were of the "Friends" persuasion, and Mary, [Possibly fromPennsylvania--] may have been a Catholic! [ God Forbid!! :} grin! ] Wonder if his folks did not disown him for marrying out of the faith... Anyone have a thought about that? Their children were born 1833- 1848 in probably Shamong, so they married about 1832 presumably. Would that have been likely to happen there in that time? Their sons were William , Aaron, George, James, Moses, Amos , and John ---all of which are names in the lines of Dr. Daniel and Elizabeth Wills --so- seems likely he belonged to them SOMEHOW. I see several Wills families with children the right age, but no son named George. Well ONE DAY MY WALL WILL FALL!!! again thanks, regards, Steph Powell Cecil stephaxi@mindspring.com

Hello, I am interested in any information on the following family: David MOSHER married Arabella SMITH in Hightstown July 4 1871. They were listed as being of Wrightstown. He was dead by 1895. Two children: Anna M. MOSHER born 1872 married Theodore APPLEGATE--he died in 1893 in Burlington. She may have remarried to a HARTMAN by 1900. Edwin/Edward/Edmond MOSHER married Estella/Stella RODMAN of Burlington about 1900-1901. By 1910 they were seperated and she was living in with their 3 young children Etta, Arabella, and Earl. His mother was living with them as well. Estella/Stella was listed as divorced at the time of her death in 1939 and had moved to Riverside from Burlington several years earlier. Thank you. Kathy Karn
