    1. RE: [NJBurlin] New Jersey Home for Feeble Minded Women - Vineland
    2. Deborah Johnson
    3. Hi Everyone - I just had a look at the post card mentioned below. That place is still in existence. It's now the State School, it's mainly used for people with severe Down's Syndrome and other severe ailments, I'm sorry, I'm trying to fish for a "politically correct" term here, but nothing wants to surface. Anyway, if anyone needs to check there for records, they are on Landis Avenue in Vineland. This school is State subsidized, across the street is another school, like that one, which is more of a "private" institution. I can't think of the name of that one, but, it's also on Landis Avenue. I used to live in Vineland, NJ and worked at the "private" school one summer during high school. I have friends and family still in the area if anyone needs any further kind of contact information for either school. Take care - Deb > [Original Message] > From: Marie F. 3. If anyone has sent for military papers recently, to the National Archives, just thought I would share a post card I received this weekend. I had sent for pension papers on October 19th. The post card I received said that the NATF form was *Just* received on January 17th! The reason for this is that Brentwood Post Office was closed, due to the anthrax problem, and all of NARA's mail comes through Brentwood. They (NARA) were just letting me know that my form was received, and thanked me for my understanding. For anyone else who is waiting for a response, thought you would like to know, if you have not received any notification yet. I also received a letter weeks ago that said the normal time currently for receiving full pension records is 16 weeks currently. Military records' time is 8-10 weeks. 3. A word of caution ordering records via the mail. I was so delighted to receive 10 pages about an ancestor. But when I went to the archives myself, and filled out the papers to see the actual records myself, I was given over 200 sheets of paper. Do not take what they say is present as gospel. 1. [NJBurlin] The Sloop the Friendship
    2. My husband and I found a receipt dated 1796 in a box of things from his mother's estate. John Schultze wrote that he owed David Chamberlain for work on the sloop the Friendship. The bottom part of the paper is David Chamberlain writing in 1797 that he had received payment in full. Does anyone have any idea of how I can research this? Neither name is known to my family yet. I have contacted the Salem Maritime Museum and the Maritime Museum on Long Island. They are both searching for me. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks! Suzanne

    1. [NJBurlin] Wills- Burge in Shamong 1860?
    2. Stephanie Cecil
    3. Hello -- Thanks to many wonderful helpers there -- Diane ,Ellen, Gail, Paula, Brian, Judy O. and Rick....hope I have not left anyone out.---I know a good deal about my George Wills family but........ I still cannot connect him to any other of the many descendants of Dr. Daniel Wills who lived in the County at that time. I wonder if this Moses below could have been George's brother or a close cousin as they are near in age and in residence at that time.[1860] On the 1860 Census for Shamong Twp, Burlington County NJ. is listed my family....... .They are all at the residence recorded #2522 [ ages vary from other census listings by a year or two.] George Wills 52, Farmer, Mary Wills 51, [son ]Moses Wills 20, [daughter] Mary A Wills 16, [son] Amos Wills 13, [daughter] Martha J. Wills 12, [my greatgrand mother] and [son] John Wills 10. At the very next residence # 2523 is listed Wm Wills 26 and his new wife Phebe Wills 19 . [He is the oldest of my Great Gran's. Brothers. t-wo others James 21 and George 23 were already away from home ] But at the SAME residence with George & Mary - # 2522 -appears this family John Burge 50, Margret Burge 20, F?elicia[?] Burge 16, [A widower and his two daughters? maybe] C. B--ford 22 [male], JosephCollins 30, [ and then in the very SAME residence .# 2522.... appears this family . Moses Wills 48- Laborer, [b. abt 1810-12] Cathran Wills 48, [could she be related to the Burge Family?] William Wills . 23, [b. abt 1836-38] Elizabeth Wills 12, [b. abt 1847-49] Wm Jervis 24, Phebe Jervis 15. [b. abt 1844-46] [Wm and Phebe Jervis were married within one year.... .] This appears to be a couple with a son , two daughters and a son in law. If this WILLS family [or the Burge family] is familiar to anyone please let me know. Thanks very much. Steph Powell Cecil stephaxi@mindspring.com
