Dear List, >From the description below, is anyone able to tell me anything about the gun being described, it's age or approximate date of manufacture? I can't answer any questions about it, since the whereabouts of the gun is unknown. The description was provided by a cousin based on what he remembers about it. We were told that it belonged to the family of my grandfather, Owen C. Daisey. His father was a Daisey from Ocean View, DE, and his mother was a Tonkin, whose family lived in southern NJ and the Philadelphia area. "J. W. Parkhurst {manufacturer}, it had double hammers on the outside of breech, damascus barrels and used black powder. I don't remember seeing a name carved in it. It was a beautiful shotgun, real fancy engraving in the metal and stock." Thanks for any help you might be able to provide. Janet T. Hoping to find some information for my great grandparents George Michael Endres (1897-1954) and his wife Erma Hannah Dunham (1899-1964). George served in the Coast Guard during World War I. Thanks in advance for any assistance, Mike
Seeking any information for my gr-gr-grandparents Samuel (1858-1939) & Lillian (1871-1956) Dunham. I'm not sure if they were from Burlington County, so I have to check anyway. They are buried in Toms River, Ocean County. Any scrap could help. Thanks, Mike
Thank you Kathy you came through again! In the listing I made of Columbus Cemetery (for future reference), who should I find close to Maude (Nixon) Grove but George B. Nixon (1840-1889) and Sarah E. Nixon (1842-1920) and next to them is another daughter, Sarah E. Nixon (1869-1870). Thanks again for the assist, Mike Grove
I hope no one takes offense but I have a great curiosity to know if there is/was some special significance to the covering. Literally, real crushed glass? Difficult to walk about on? Have others done it? It is not a particularly OLD plot (not by my standards anyhow). Does someone have some insight on this? Ellen, County name canges is a very common thing. A person could have lived in several counties, and more than one state, without ever moving out of the same house. You can become very familiar with these changes, but readers of your work may not, For that reason, whenever I have a situation like this, I show the sequence, dates, and new names of counties amd states, in the NOTES. Hi, As Kathy suggested looking at the original films... This citation points to ED 35, Page 16, Line 05, Springfield Twp, 14 June 1880. The only information that was on the actual page and not included in Kathy's data was that Edward had been attending school, and that Maud was age 1. I couldn't find anything specific to see why FHL wrote "Johnstown" on the CD. A few pages earlier, the census page "here ends the village of Jacksonville, beginning on Page 11, line 26." The end of page 41 says "Here ends the village of Juliustown." I didn't find anything for Jobstown, but that is also in Springfield Twp, and is most likely where the NIXON family were living. BTW, I have a connection to a Clara NIXON, who married George BURR and had a child named Emma in 1885. Haven't researched Clara any farther. Hello, I meant to add on my last post that I wonder if the place the NIXON family was listed was Jobstown not Johnstown? I have not heard of a Johnstown in Burl Co but am not that familiar with that area of the county. Use the 1880 census CD as a starting point only--you need to view the actual census record. I have found the CD's to be pretty acurate with family information, but have found several errors in town names and in locations where the family actually lived. Folks I have in Delran are listed in Delranco--there is a Delanco but not a Delranco. Other families in Burlington City are listed as being in Bordentown. Kathy

I've come across this with many of my relatives. Some of them were born in what was Hunterdon at the time, and died in Mercer. With out ever moving. I list there birth as Hunterdon since that what it was at the time. There death I list as Mercer. This saves future generations from looking for records in one county when they should be looking in another. I hope this makes sense. Jerry Varner
G'day list!!! I have a question concerning recording my findings. When I record the county as place of birth, death etc.Should I record it as the county it was then or the county it is now.I know this is probley a really off the wall question, but I have a birth that was recorded in one county and through the life of said person it had changed to a new county and death is recorded as another. Is there any one who has come across this problem?? Ellen
Hello List, I need some help! I was out and about chasing down my ever confussing Schemelia/Shemelia/Shemeley, Wing and Warren's. So I treked to Burl.Co. In Brotherhood, I just have to figure out who Florence Wing is, she's buried in the same plot as my Richard B. Schemelia, and Rebecca . I think she may have been a sister in law. Also in the plot, the surname Worrell. There are also a few Benjamin Shemelia's I have to figure out. And in Pemberton, Joseph H. Shemelia has Willets at the bottom of the stone, but the part I need is unreadable, tried to etch it, but it's very worn. I believe the other name to be Sarah J. Willets. His stone is behind a huge bush, looks as if another stone may have been next to it at one time. His stone has a hand holding a trowel, poss. a mason? Also in Pemberton My 3rd Great Grandfather Peter Wing is buried, next to him is what appears to be a foot stone with the initials E.W. Does anyone know who this maybe? or have records of this place. You know it's frustrating to find this Schemelia surname when a husband and wife buried next to one another have it spelled diff. Samuel Shemely Co. H 3 Regt. NJ Vol. Died Oct.9 1878 aged 46years My Mother Kate Wife of Samuel (Shamely) Died Oct. 11 1883 Still haven't found my Warren's, Looking for George S. Warren who married Hannah Poole or Austin abt. 1840-ish, first child was Susanna. And I still cannot figure out how some of the males wound up with a middle name of Butterworth? The only thing I can think of is that Elizabeth Hoff/Huff/Hough who first married William Schemelia, and had Richard B. was somehow related to Butterworths. After I'm done sending the other cemeteries, I'll add to the list the ones I copied at both Brotherhood, and Pemberton.... Lora Schemelia Bearden (idiot at large)
Does anyone have information on the Nixon's of Burlington County? Specifically looking for Maude E.Nixon (1879-1952) who married George H. Grove. They are buried in Columbus Cemetery. There are a lot of other Nixon's buried there, some that predate Maude, so I'm hoping there's some relation. Thank you for any help, Mike
