I read your message without noting the 1803. Really. Just the big DOB and then what I knew to be Eliza's death date. I have not checked my hard files to see if I have a copy of a bible record owned by Richard L. Merritt. Why did you think he gave the copy to Beulah Fenimore. I am certain that the bible record I have is directly from Beulah's mother. However, I do know that there was a lot of correspondence between Merritt/Fenimore families in that generation. My Aunt Beulah died in 1951. She was born in 1862. During that long life she reportedly did a lot of "family work" but I have never been able to find it. Perhaps the reference to Jessie Miller will mean something to you. I'm going back to re-reading your message and hope to hear from you again. Regards, Georgia

I have posted this information online. It is from a family bible held in the possession of my Aunt Beulah and then donated to GSP. The photocopy of the record is held at HSP. I am particularly interested in where you got your info about the Eliza who was born the same day mine died and what your family interest in her was, the one that led you to me. Does anyone know if any type of records exist for the county Almshouse? I am interested in two different references, one is the 1870 census for Pemberton Township, which lists a group of people identified as 'inmates of the almshouse'. The other is an 1885 death certificate that lists the person's residence as the Almshouse in Mansfield. Are these two references to the same place? Any information will be appreciated. Hi It is sometime since I was on your list but I have joined again to see if anyone has any ELKIN[G]TONS in their family. I have a large section of descendants of George Elkington 1650-1713 who was a Quaker. He settled in Northampton Township, Burlington County in New Jersey having arrived on the ship 'Kent" in 1677. He was apprenticed as a Blacksmith and married two wives. I am anxious to find any direct surviving relatives of the Elkin[g]ton name and would be pleased to hear from them. I now have a large world-wide database of all Elkin[g]tons and would like to update it. I have written his story into my Website at _www.elkingtonfamily.com_ (http://www.elkingtonfamily.com) under the heading 'Family Trees' Regards JUDY ELKINGTON www.elkingtonfamily.com [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) www.one-name.org/profiles/elkington.html

Hi Mike, Barkley N. Shemelia was born August 19, 1917 and enlisted in the Army in 1943. He died October 1990. I checked the County Clerk indexes for deeds to see if he owned a home that may have been sold after his death. It looks like his widow, Evelyn M. Shemelia is still living. The only listing for his name or hers in the deed index is a mortgage in 1973. The public records index on Ancestry shows his name and Evelyn M. Shemelia at 110 Maple Lane, Mt Holly. Her birth year is estimated to be 1921. I also checked the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News archives for an obituary for Barkley--nothing came up. I can check at the library this week for an obituary. Kathy Karn

His surname is sometimes seen as SHEMELEY or SHEMELY, among others. I believe this person to be the son of Barkley SHEMELIA (1888-1949) & Catherine Alice BALDWIN (1897-1980). Many members of this family (not included Barkley Jr) were buried at Brotherhood Cemetery. The family were living in Lumberton in 1920 and in Mount Holly in 1930. My contact in France would like to be put in contact with either Barkley (if possible) or his family. Are there any SHEMELIA researchers with information on this family?
