Please forgive my last post to the list. I meant it to go to Mill personally. I pushed the wrong button. I seem to be doing that a lot lately. I'm sorry. Georgia
Dear Mill, I was not ignoring your last two posts. My son is in the surgical intensive care unit at Temple University Hospital and I am not in possession of my full faculties. I have subscriptions here, there and everywhere (almost). Let me know what you need looked up and I will do it for you. Georgia
Yes!, Marilyn. Thomas Potts was a tanner and came to America on the ship SHIELD. We lived on the Old York Road about 1 1/2 miles from Thomas Potts, Jr's farmland. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/oQB.2ACE/116.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Bruce, I sent you the original transcript of the Beulah Fenimore Bible Records in 2005. If you would like me to forward that correspondence to you, I would be happy to. Please email privately. I'm glad to see you out there still working. Although Eliza's birth seemed to be ca 1803, I have her cemetery return which indicates she was born ca 1794, rather than the later date entered into the family bible. I believe I also sent you copies of the original Richard Merritt bible record. Judy Mullen had provided you with a transcript and I had copies of the original. It's good to hear from you and if I can help in any other way, please let me know. Georgia Whitson
Hi Kathy ! thank you so much for the tips .... he is definately a hard one to research. the death cert from Trenton is a ledger type and it said that his parents were Daniel Ryan and Mary .... but Daniel isn't one of the Ryan names that kept coming down towards me ... we have Thomas's, Charles, Williams and George's .... but ... but there is one thing.... this Thomas and Sarah Branin were married 1801 ... I have the family bible of their son George family who was born in 1808 .... this George is the only child of Thomas and Sarah I can find as the cenuses for 1830 & 1840 are just head of household. So there was at least 6-7 yrears after the 1801 marriage until 1808 .... I figure there has to have been more kids ... and hopefully they lived to maturity. I will do some more checking .... thanks again ! Mill
Is this your Thomas Ryan? This was the only reference I could find for a Thomas Ryan. It is the right time frame but not sure as the executrix is not the wife you named. The only suggestion I would have for you would be to check deed indexes , grantors and grantees and to check any wills and estate records for any early Ryans in Burlington County. Even if you could find an obituary it is unlikely it would name Thomas' parents. I am assuming that the death record from Trenton did not name Thomas' parents? I think that you could order some of these indexes from your local FHC or you could hire a researcher in Trenton if you can't go yourself. Kathy Karn Acsn# 53917 Category: OBITUARIES Headline: Burlington Co., Orphans' Court. / April Term, A. D. 1859. / ORDER TO SHEW(sic.) CAUSE. Date: June 2, 1859 Page: 3 Column: 4 Summary: Deborah Ryan, Executrix of Thomas Ryan, dec'd., having exhibited to this Court, under oath, a just and true account of the personal estate and debts of the said deceased, whereby it appears that the personal estate of the said deceased is not sufficient to pay his debts, and requested the aid of the Court in the premises-- It is therefore, on this Twenty-sixth day of April, A. D. eighteen hundred and fifty-nine, ordered, that all persons interested in the lands, tenements, hereditaments and real estate, of the said Thomas Ryan, deceased, appear before the Court, at the Court House, in Mount Holly, on the Fifth day of July next, to shew(sic.) cause why so much of the lands, tenements, hereditaments and real estate, of the said Thomas Ryan, deceased, should not be sold as will be sufficient to pay his debts. Hello ... I am trying to find the birth place of my grt-grt-grt grandfather - Thomas Ryan. I know he was married in Burl. Co. in 1801 to Sarah Branin. I think his birth was in the mid 1700's . and the info I have from Trenton, he died still married in 1858 in Bordentown which would make him born about 1777. Would anyone be able to help me find out who his parents are ? thank you.. Mill Ryan
