I have a 4th great aunt who was born in Bloomingdale, married into the PETERSON family, and then the husband left. The estranged wife took up with her dead sisters husband and killed him to try and get his farm. His name was Henry C. Miller, son of Christian Miller and Annie Francisco. When a daughter revealed that an autopsy was being planned, the woman quickly ate some of the Strychnine herself, and died that very same night. This was in 1870, I affectionately call that story "Murder in Montville"....
