William Kleiwerda shows up as Wm. R., age 27, married at age 23 to Hattie, probably an American version of Heiltje who is also 27. This places their marriage about 1926 or 27. Their son Jacob is 2 years 6 months old at the time of the census : 4 April 1930. They are living at 68 Cottage Street, Midland Park, Bergen County, New Jersey. This was a rented house for $30. per month. William worked as a driver for a laundry service, for wages. He was not a veteran. He and his parents were all born in New Jersey. Midland Park is right next to Ridgewood. There was and still is, a heavy population of Dutch in Midland Park.
