In 1917 Richard was employed in Midland Park, New Jersey. HIs employer's name was Henry J. Westbrock, and Richard worked as an embroiderer of flannels. His physical description was "medium height, medium build, blue eyes, brown hair, no physical defects". His Draft Board was located in Franklin Township, Bergen County, New Jersey.
