Hi All I am trying to trace a living relatives. John and Elisa Berggren (nee Petersen) had a daughter Ellen who was 1 year old in the 1930 census when they were living at Oak Terrace, The Bronx, New York. John was a carpenter. John died July 1970 at New Milford, Bergen County, New Jersey and Elisa died Nov 1972 at the same location. Can anyone suggest how I might find obituaries for John or Elisa? If at all possible, I would like to make contact with Ellen Berggren, we are contemporary so it is quite likely that she is still alive. Of course it is entirely possible that she is using a name other than Berggren. Perhaps someone living in the Hackensack area with time on their hands could go to the Johnson Library and search back copies of The Record (formerly Bergen Evening Record) for you. The search would be narrow as you gave the month and year. They could also check old phone books. We were back there some five weeks ago and wished I had the time to visit the library as I would have wished to do the same, except the newspapers would have had to be around 125 years ago.
